A low FODMAP diet can help with bad breath caused by overgrowth of the wrong bacteria in the small intestine. This is because the diet restricts the fermentable fibres and sugars the bacteria requires for their survival. Bad gut bugs can release gases that cause bad breath as well as bloating, gas and irritable bowel syndrome.

Fibre is thought to be healthy and people are advised to increase their fibre intake. Not all types of fibre are healthy for all people though. For those with inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease & ulcerative colitis) a type of FODMAP called fructans can cause a significant flare up of their autoimmune disease. Fructans are found in foods such as onion, garlic, wheat, stone fruit, asparagus and legumes.

Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) are affected by dietary factors, including nondigestible carbohydrates (fibers), which are fermented by colonic microbes. Fibers are overall beneficial, but not all fibers are alike, and some patients with IBD report intolerance to fiber consumption. Given reproduci...

Nicotinamide is vitamin B3. It helps to reduce the risk of skin cancer: basal cell and squamous cell carcinoma. It can be taken internally as a supplement, and you can apply topical B3 serum to your face to reduce the risk of cancer. https://medicalxpress.com/news/2025-09-dietary-supplement-effective-skin-cancer.html?fbclid=IwY2xjawM67cZleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETEwSmUyNENqQzhXaHZiczh5AR6KtofsPoPzkUkHH7Nevk8b9i8CZmCe9zndXSoQi9ovuNOcZOApGs9OQ2wp9Q_aem_QTF351l_HZgdkYUtcasrHg

The dietary supplement nicotinamide has been recommended by dermatologists for people with a history of skin cancer since 2015, when a clinical study with 386 participants showed that those who took the vitamin B3 derivative developed fewer new occurrences.

What causes irritable bowel syndrome? Many people think it's stress. A large amount of research has shown that chronic digestive problems are most likely to occur after a bout of gastroenteritis. Infection with a parasite or bacteria, virus or food poisoning can cause an autoimmune response in the gut, leaving a person with long term digestive symptoms. Fixing the problem involves treating the infection, correcting gut bug imbalances, removing problem foods and restoring the health of the gut lining.

Objective Disorders of gut-brain interaction may arise after acute gastroenteritis. Data on the influence of pathogen type on the risk of postinfection IBS (PI-IBS), as on postinfection functional dyspepsia (PI-FD), are limited. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to determine prevale...

There are so many existing, old medications with cancer fighting properties. Aspirin is one example. Several studies have shown that aspirin reduces the ability of cancer cells to metastasise around the body. It's particularly effective for colon cancer. Aspirin alone is not going to prevent or treat colon cancer, but when used in combination with other treatments, can make a massive difference to survival. https://www.theguardian.com/science/2025/sep/17/aspirin-can-have-huge-effect-in-stopping-colorectal-cancer-returning-study-finds?CMP=fb_gu&utm_medium=Social_img&utm_source=Facebook&fbclid=IwY2xjawM4md1leHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETE2bUFPcHlrUG5wY00zdW9HAR4HF_qHBrcpIRNurICgkD2LdNx_0cfnAzmB9tYoXgLZII3_Y9OsIolYb3CwhQ_aem_M-jw9M0MwOskbPYQHvOu4w =1758175634

Your fat cells can tell if you've had enough sunlight. Not getting enough sunshine changes the way fat cells behave. It makes them more stubborn, harder to burn and increases the risk of insulin resistance and fatty liver. "Our bodies evolved over the years under the sun's light, including developing light-sensing genes called opsins," says Richard Lang, Ph.D., a developmental biologist and senior author of the study. "But now we live so much of our days under artificial light, which does not provide the full spectrum of light we all get from the sun.

Our modern lifestyle subjects us to unnatural lighting spectra, exposure to light at night, shift work, and jet lag, all of which result in metabolic disruption. Based on the current findings, it is possible that insufficient stimulation of the light-OPN3 adipocyte pathway is part of an explanation for the prevalence of metabolic deregulation in industrialized nations where unnatural lighting has become the norm."

Have you been outside today? Your metabolism will thank you for it. https://phys.org/news/2020-01-fat-cells-sunlightnot-metabolic-syndrome.html?fbclid=IwY2xjawI0lgRleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHXtSOLJF9gTzkcpFFNUKm2Xqz0ldDNe3Qh1z2yTQo7Y_BpRBYFH6X7uvQQ_aem_Ck1sL_qRFosTgJKEmbN_VQ

Yes, fat cells deep under your skin can sense light. And when bodies do not get enough exposure to the right kinds of light, fat cells behave differently.
