April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month, with World Parkinson’s Day on April 11.

Parkinson’s disease can impact movement, balance and quality of life — but exercise is one of the most powerful tools we have to manage it.

Research shows that the right exercise can improve mobility, reduce symptoms and help maintain independence for longer.

At ExCo, we use individualised exercise to help people with Parkinson’s build strength, confidence and capacity for life.

Golfers often chase swing changes when what they really need is a movement change. If you struggle with consistency, power, or lower-back tightness after a round, the issue may not be your technique - it may be your ability to “load into your hips”.

Perimenopause to post-menopause can bring many changes to the body - but the right training approach can make a huge difference.

Here are 3 key training principles Olivia often focuses on with women during this stage of life:

1️⃣ Prioritise strength training
Heavier lifting helps support bone density, muscle mass and metabolic health.

2️⃣ Higher sets, lower reps
Training with heavier loads and lower repetitions can help stimulate strength and maintain muscle.

3️⃣ Allow more recovery time
Hormonal changes can affect recovery, so giving the body time to adapt between sessions becomes increasingly important.

With the right program, exercise can play a powerful role in helping women maintain strength, confidence and long-term health through this transition.

Knee pain and osteoarthritis are common, but the way they affect each person can be very different.

At ExCo, our approach starts by first understanding the individual - their history, how they move, what they enjoy doing, and what they want to get back to.

From there, we build a program that focuses on gradually improving strength, movement capacity and confidence around the knee. Often this means helping people move a little more efficiently and building the physical capacity needed to support everyday activities.

The goal isn’t to force a particular way of moving, but to help people find strategies that work for their body, allowing them to stay active and continue doing the things they enjoy.
