Taking small but necessary steps to better the lives of our participants 💛 At SWDS we understand the difficulties that come with living with a disability 💙 If assistance isn’t provided we may not prioritise things that can improve our general health such as appearance, personal hygiene, our environment at home etc 💛 At SWDS we take pride in organising self-care activities so that these things don’t take a back- burner 💙

At SWDS we know it takes time to achieve results so we always take it one step at a time 💛

We always ensure our clients are participating in activities that will challenge them and assist them in their learning process and overcoming barriers 🙌🏼

We do weekly cooking lessons which improves our client’s physical development including fine motor and eye-hand coordination skills which are developing by chopping, mixing, squeezing, and spreading 🧑‍🍳 It also enhances their cognitive development as cooking encourages children's thinking, problem-solving, and creativity 🥘

We also do weekly sports activities as the benefits of participating in sport go beyond learning new physical skills ⚽️ Sport helps clients develop better ways to cope with the highs and lows of life 🏸 When they're playing sport, sometimes they will win, while at other times they will lose. Being a good loser takes maturity and practice 👏🏼 Losing teaches children to overcome disappointment, cope with unpleasant experiences and is an important part of becoming resilient 💛

Playing sport helps clients learn to control their emotions and channel negative feelings in a healthy way 🏈 It also helps children develop patience and understand that it can take a lot of practice to improve their skills 💙
