As Matilda is laid to rest today, and in the days ahead as other victims are farewelled, families, friends and communities are left forever changed.

The bees shared in Matilda’s memory have become a gentle symbol of the love, innocence and light she brought into the world — small yet meaningful reminders of a life that will not be forgotten, and of the connection and care found in community.

As these farewells continue, we hold those families and friends close in our hearts, surrounding them with compassion, care and quiet remembrance.
