Sofia’s EEG update 💜

This EEG has been a really tough experience for Sofia — and for all of us. The electrodes kept disconnecting with movement, and we ended up back at the clinic a third time to have them reapplied. It was uncomfortable, itchy and at times painful for her… it just wasn’t working the way we had hoped.

We managed 3 days of recording before it all had to come off. Walking back into the clinic that third time and seeing tears in Sofia’s eyes was heartbreaking — she was completely over it, and honestly, so was I.

We’re really hoping those 3 days will still give us some helpful answers 🤞

It felt so good to finally wash out all the glue and plaster and see her comfortable, relaxed and smiling again 💗

EEG Day 2 update 💜

Day 1 — Sofia did absolutely amazing. It took around 2 hours to place all the electrodes, and she was chatting away and even thanking the nurse… all while excitedly talking about her upcoming birthday 🥹 Her patience and resilience never stop amazing me.

A few hours after we got home, the cap started slipping, pulling on some of the electrodes and causing discomfort and dystonia. She kept saying “itchy” and “annoying,” which was so hard to see.

This morning we headed back to the neurology clinic for round 2. Another 1.5 hours later, everything was reattached and secured with glue and extra tape. It definitely looks more sturdy now — just hoping it stays comfortable and not too hot or itchy 🤞

Fingers crossed it all stays in place overnight!

I’d forgotten how challenging EEG's can be… dressing, hoisting, and everyday tasks all become that little bit harder. Taking it one step at a time 💛
