MEDIA RELEASE: End of an Era for Canberra women
On November 12, Canberra women will see the end of an era with the completion of the final Power of Choice Course for Women. This powerful course has been taught in Canberra for thirty years and over a thousand women have completed this life changing course which supports women to appreciate their strengths, face challenges, set goals and put strategies in place to achieve their dreams.
Women in the Power of Choice network are both saddened that the 2018 course will be the final course and, at the same time, appreciative that they took the opportunity to do it.
Tracy Bentick said today that the Power of Choice was a powerful, transformative experience that she wished all women could experience. “I entered feeling lost and confused about many areas in my life and left with a clearer sense of acceptance, self-awareness and the power and knowledge to choose and follow my own personal goals”.
At 56, Felicity O’Neil found herself in the grip of a ‘stage of life’ dysphoria. “I was feeling despondent about my future. Nearly five years down the track, I don’t limit myself or hold back from life. I’ve even learned to play the harp!
For Pamela Martin, life long memories have been created. “The Power of Choice course was an infinitely enriching experience that will be in my heart forever.”
Jessica attended the first Power of Choice Course which was offered in Sydney by Shana Bellin. Jessica then taught the course with Shana in Canberra for two years and then on her own for a further eleven years when Marg Cranney joined her.They have been teaching the course in Canberra for the last 17 years.
Jessica Rose said today that it’s been a pleasure and a privilege to be on this gently powerful and deeply healing journey, supporting women to live with passion, power and purpose.
Creating each course requires a large, dedicated team of women who come together over a period of six months, both to promote the course and to ensure that every aspect of the participants’ needs are taken into consideration during the course. As Marg and I now live in different states and the time and energy commitment is so great, we have regretfully decided that this will be the last Power of Choice Course for Women we will offer.
The last information evening for this final course will be held at the Curves Gym at the Weston Creek Shopping Centre at 6.30pm this coming Tuesday, October 23rd
All women are welcome.
The last Power of Choice course will be held from Friday 9 to Monday 12 November at the Burringiri Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Culture Centre. More information can be found on the Power of Choice website at www.powerofchoice.net.au
