The ABC has published a good article about what a street legal ebike is compared to illegal e-motorbikes.

Hopefully it will help to educate the general public.

I’m worried that Governments will introduce a blanket ban on all ebikes.

Noticing a lot of e-bikes around lately? Here's a state-by-state breakdown of the laws about them.

Good work Marty! Thanks for maintaining the Canberra Centenary Trail👍

Good work Marty! Thanks for maintaining the Canberra Centenary Trail👍

Meet Marty: our Canberra Centenary Trail maintenance officer. 👷

Just like roads and cycle paths, the Canberra Centenary Trail needs ongoing maintenance and improvements – and Marty knows this 138-kilometre walking and cycling route like the back of his hand. 🙌

👋 Make sure to give Marty and his colleagues a wave if you see them mowing the trail corridor, clearing fallen trees, installing damaged or stolen signs, renewing trail surfaces, cleaning out drains or scoping improved alignments. And if you see a section of trail that needs improvement, chances are it’s already on Marty’s radar. ✅

With the weather warming and the wildflowers blooming, 🌼 spring is the perfect time to explore the trail – either by foot 🚶 or mountain bike. 🚲 We’ve even updated our trail maps (with Marty’s help, of course) to give you the smoothest possible adventure. 🗺️

➡️ Discover the trail and check out the new maps at https://www.parks.act.gov.au/find-a-nature-park/canberra-centenary-trail

Please keep an eye out for Trixie!

Sad to report that our beloved Co-Op mascot Trixie was taken on Sunday night. The incident happened close to midnight. If you have any information that could help us to get Trixie back please DM us or email info@cbrfoodcoop.org.au

Trixie is an important part of the Co-op vibe and history so we would be so grateful for any and all assistance!

This Maggie season I’ve created the “ultimate” swooping protector.

3 colourful ribbon flags with bird scare tape mounted close to the bicycle seat. It’s mounted and held together with 3d printed brackets.

To top it off I’ve got the pie proof helmet with da brim to protect from pecking.

So far this week it has resulted in zero swoops. More than likely because the magpies are laughing themselves silly.

But now that I’ve said that, I’ve probably jinxed it 😬

🚴‍♀️ Heads up riders – Northbourne Avenue weekend closures! 🚧
If you’re planning to cycle through the city in early August, here’s what you need to know about the upcoming closures for light rail and stormwater upgrade works:

🚦 When and where?
1–4 August 2025 (Fri 8pm – Mon 6am):
🔹 Southbound closed between Cooyong Street and Vernon Circle
8–11 August 2025 (Fri 8pm – Mon 6am):
🔹 Northbound closed between Rudd Street and Vernon Circle

🚲 What it means for you:
- Expect detours and extra traffic in the city.
- Allow extra time or choose quieter backstreets and shared paths to avoid construction areas.
- Intersections at London Circuit and Alinga Street will also be affected during works.
- Good news: it won’t make a big difference if you already use the lovely bike path running alongside Northbourne.
- Bonus tip: south of Albert Street, cars usually crawl slower than bikes, so you might even breeze past the traffic!

These closures are part of rolling upgrades through to mid-2026, with crews working around the clock on weekends.
✅ Plan ahead, ride safe, and keep an eye out for detours!
