WALK-W-ME

Everyone is welcome! WALK-W-ME is a community under the charity WITH-ME. The demographic of walkers currently ranges from teens to people in their 70s.

WALK-W-ME invites everyone to Lake Burley Griffin (the flags) every second Sunday at 9:00am to walk, talk and create a safe space to improve mental health awareness. WALK-W-ME is an initiative started in 2021 to combat loneliness, encourage people to get out of their comfort zones, experience conversations with new people and make new friends. WALK-W-ME is an inclusive and friendly community environment and offers a place for individuals to have a chat about what's going on in their lives as well as provide support to others. One of the most difficult tasks most people face is the commitment to implement a habit and maintain consistency. Most of us had routines when we were younger, such as playing sport which had required a commitment to ourselves and in some instances a team. WALK-W-ME wants to express that once a habit is started it is just as easy to continue. Showing up once a week for a walk not only has the physical benefits (such as walking for an hour) but also the psychological benefits of being part of a community who are willing to share and listen to each other. Sometimes, you will be there for yourself, but also will be providing support for others. We aim to centre our model around people rather than issues as we believe that people are more important and the problems we face together can stay on the outer when being discussed. We are back this weekend with a WRIST BAND WALK 💜💙

If you’re wondering what that is you’re not alone. We’ve had a few messages asking.

It’s designed to help our regular WALK W ME walkers connect with people who are joining us for the first time.

How it works:
When you arrive you’ll be given a wrist band and placed into a colour group.
That colour is your cue to walk and chat with people you might not usually meet.

The aim is simple
To gently push you out of your comfort zone in a relaxed and judgement free environment.

We know meeting new people can feel nerve wracking. That’s completely normal.
But we can promise you it’s always worth it.

You never know who you’re going to meet.

We have been sitting on this one for a long time and are so excited to finally announce the launch of a new .co program!

Join us for a 60-minute yoga class outside on The Greens at Canberra Bowling Club in Forrest every second Saturday Morning at 8:30am, starting Nov 2 📆

Our yoga sessions will be run by the amazing !

Water and post-yoga coffee are obviously essential, which is why we have proudly partnered with and who will be supplying you with the goods ☕️

Don’t let the smile fool you…Okay let it. Lara joined WWM last year in November at our first wrist band walk and hasn’t looked back since!
