Thankyou Carly Taylor...

On behalf of all past and present AUA families, participants, staff, and volunteers, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Carly Taylor as she completed her tenure on the AUA Board last evening.

Carly has been an invaluable contributor to the growth and governance of Abilities Unlimited Australia, bringing structure, formality, and a strong commitment to best practice governance throughout her service.

Her leadership has shaped many facets of AUA’s development—from overseeing community events to guiding significant projects, most notably the creation of the Evatt Cycle Track.

Carly has generously mentored office and program staff, provided steady support across countless initiatives, and ensured the parent voice was central in strategic planning and new program design.

Her hard work, sharp wit, and warm presence have left an enduring mark on AUA.

We cannot thank you enough, Carly, for all you have contributed. We will deeply miss you, your energy, and your wonderful family.

While you have finished your official AUA role on the Board, we look forward to your continued presence in the AUA family.

JAATF Touch Footy is staying at Deakin Playing Fields for the rest of this Term ☺️

Thank you for all the wonderful feedback we’ve received from parents, children, and coaches about holding our Touch Football (JAATF) program at the Deakin Playing Fields.
We’re delighted that the venue has been working so well for everyone, and we will continue running the program at Deakin for the remainder of the term.

The weather is looking favourable, and we can’t wait to see everyone out on the tracks, the playing fields, the dirt jumps and cycle tracks, the basketball courts, in the gym, and in the pools enjoying their sessions.

The AthleticsAbilities program continues to go from strength to strength each week, beautifully reflected in the children’s growing confidence, enthusiasm, and active participation. The dedication and involvement of parents remain central to this success, providing the foundation for the children’s enjoyment and their willingness to engage in new activities and drills.

AthleticsAbilities is delighted to welcome McNeill Sherwin to the role of Team Lead. We are excited to have you on board this program—welcome to the AthleticsAbilities team, McNeill!

UPDATE....TOUCH FOOTY 🏈 🏈 🏈 🏈 🏈

While The Woden School has reopened following recent closures to repair flood damage, the outdoor area we use for Touch Footy on Saturdays is still off‑limits.
As a result, our Touch Footy session this Saturday, 21 February, will again be held at the Deakin Ovals (see attached map) at 10:00 am instead of at The Woden School.
We are hopeful that we will return to The Woden School the following Saturday, 28 February, and we will keep you updated on any further changes.
Congratulations and our very best wishes to The Woden School community, who have been through a very challenging week and are working hard to support all students as they settle back into Term 1.

This week's update....WATERABIITIES 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♀️🏊‍♀️🏊‍♀️🏊‍♀️

Following the Malkara School closure last week due to repairs for flood damage, the school is now open again, and we can get back in the water there this Sunday for our regular Waterabilities Sessions.

Congratulations to the Malkara School Community and the Education Department, who made an incredible effort to repair the school so quickly following the recent flooding.
We know it has been a difficult time with the school closed for the last week, for everyone involved, particularly the students and their families. We hope everything settles back down quickly for you all.

All other Waterability sessions at Black Mountain and Cranleigh Schools will go ahead as usual.

UPDATE: MALKARA SCHOOL CLOSURE

All Waterabilities sessions at Malkara have been cancelled this Sunday, 15 Feb 2026.

Unfortunately, Malkara School will be closed for the entire week, including Sunday, due to extensive repair work required following last weekend’s flash‑flood damage.

We have made enquiries about securing a pool site for a makeup session on the March public holiday; however, we have not yet been able to confirm a venue. If we are able to offer a makeup lesson, we will share the details as soon as they are available.

All other AUA programs will go ahead as scheduled.

The Athleticsabilities Team is very excited to have the opportunity to run our own multi-activity athletics event this Saturday!
Our children (and parents, siblings and instructors) will be running races on the track, doing long jump at the long jump pits, and using the throwing circles for discus or shot put!

The AUA Athleticsabilities Team will have the Charnwood Oval all to ourselves, just this Saturday, as the Ginninderra Athletics Club will be participating in the 2026 Capital Athletics Underage Championships at the AIS.

We wish all Ginninderra Athletes and Volunteers all the very best at the ACT Championships.
We equally wish all the AUA Athleticsabilities athletes all the very best this Saturday too!
