For the 2.1 million Australians impacted by high cholesterol, the risks often go unnoticed. Left untreated, plaque continues to silently build up in your blood vessels, potentially leading to serious complications.

Thanks to modern day therapies, treating high cholesterol can be easy with a wide range on new therapies now available to people with high cholesterol from a simple tablet to a fortnightly or even a six-monthly injection. 💊💉

That’s why this week, we’ve partnered with Advara HeartCare Australia’s national and leading cardiology provider to raise awareness of detecting heart disease early before it is too late. ❤

It’s important to speak to your GP or see a Cardiologist early about a heart check to Know Your Numbers and Treat Your Risk. ✅

We all have it, we all need it—but what is cholesterol and how does it impact our heart health?

This week is Cholesterol Awareness Week and Heart Support Australia has joined forces with Advara HeartCare to raise awareness of high cholesterol, its risks and the potential impact it can have on your life. ❤

Did you know that high levels of low-density lipoprotein (or LDL) cholesterol:

• Can build up in your blood vessels and cause blockages that can lead to heart attack or stroke.
• Is often referred to as a ‘silent disease’ due to its lack of noticeable symptoms.
• Is associated with certain lifestyle factors such as smoking, poor diet, lack of physical activity and alcohol consumption. Other risk factors include family history, age and certain comorbidities such as diabetes, hypertension and obesity.
• Can be prevented and managed by getting regular blood tests to identify your LDL cholesterol levels

It is important to Know Your Numbers so you can Treat Your Risk. ✅

Thank you to Health Industry Hub for the opportunity for our CEO Dr Christian Verdicchio and Dr David O'Donnell CEO of Advara HeartCare to talk about the need to shift the mindset to appropriately tackle cardiovascular disease in Australia on World Heart Day.

This interview was truly unique bringing together the consumer and clinician voice together. ❤️

Coinciding with World Heart Day 2025, the theme Don’t Miss a Beat strikes a chord far beyond its clever wordplay. It reflects the urgency and complexity of the leading cause of death impacting the nation: cardiovascular disease. Dr David O’Donnell, Electrophysiologist and CEO of Advara Heartcare
