Make Health Your First Appointment
In a life full of deadlines, make one for yourself: health first.
Plan your meals like meetings, protect bedtime like a promise, and move a little every day.
Small, consistent choices—water before coffee, a brisk walk after dinner, five minutes of stretching—create momentum you can feel.
Treat your body with respect and your days will feel lighter, clearer, and more joyful.

🩺 As a doctor, I wish to emphasise: obesity is not a matter of insufficient willpower.
In clinical practice, I have encountered countless patients who strive diligently yet remain troubled by their weight.
They have tried dieting, exercise, and every fashionable method, only to fail repeatedly,
ultimately blaming themselves.
But medically, we understand clearly—
obesity is often closely linked to metabolic changes, hormonal regulation, sleep patterns, stress, and age,
rather than simply 'eating too much'.
What truly matters is not forcing rapid bodily change,
but helping the body re-establish sustainable equilibrium.
When management approaches are sufficiently gentle and sustained over the long term,
the body is more likely to cooperate rather than resist.
Please remember:
Weight issues are not your failure.
You deserve science, understanding, and support.🌿

WHAT IS CYSTIC FIBROSIS?
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is the most common life threatening recessive genetic condition.
In Australia, there are approximately 3000 patients with CF. The disease affects many young Australians and causes a thickening of the mucus with greatly impaired breathing. This mucus is very difficult to remove and patients need to undergo lengthy treatment with mucolytics and receive regular physiotherapy to clear the lungs. The stress placed on the lungs results in structural damage and regular infections leading to pneumonia. 1 in 25 people carry the CF gene.

⚠️ The Hidden Risks of Excess Body Fat
Did you know that too much fat—especially belly fat around your internal organs—isn’t just about appearance? It significantly raises the risk of serious health issues.
🫀 Heart Health
• High blood pressure: Belly fat strains the heart and increases the risk of cardiovascular disease.
• Artery blockage: Visceral fat narrows arteries, raising the risk of heart attacks.
🍬 Diabetes & Blood Sugar
• Type 2 diabetes: Belly fat makes the body more insulin-resistant, increasing diabetes risk.
🩸 Cholesterol & Fatty Liver
• High LDL: Too much fat raises “bad” cholesterol.
• Fatty liver: Common with belly fat, it can cause inflammation and liver damage.
😴 Sleep Issues
• Sleep apnoea: Neck fat raises the risk of nighttime breathing interruptions.
🦴 Joint Pain & Mobility
• Arthritis: Extra weight puts stress on knees, hips, and back.
🧴 Skin & Ageing
• Reduced elasticity: Excess fat can lead to sagging skin and wrinkles.
🎗 Higher Cancer Risk
• Linked to cancers like breast and bowel cancer.
🫛 Gallstones & Digestion
• High fat intake can trigger gallstones and digestive issues.
🧠 Mental Health & Hormones
• Weight gain can impact self-esteem and raise stress hormones like cortisol.
🔹 Remember:
✅ Belly fat is linked to heart disease, diabetes, and hormonal imbalances.
✅ It can also affect sleep, joints, skin, and mental health.
