Easing Stress with an Integrated Approach

In today’s fast-paced world, stress has become almost unavoidable. Between work, family, constant technology, and the demands of modern life, our bodies and minds are often stuck in a cycle of tension and overwhelm. Prolonged stress doesn’t just affect mood—it can impact sleep, digestion, energy, immunity, and even accelerate ageing.
The good news is that stress can be managed—and healing is possible. At Woden Wellness Centre, we take an integrated approach, offering therapies that nurture both body and mind. Craniosacral therapy and myofascial release work gently yet effectively to calm the nervous system, ease restrictions in the body, and release long-held tension, creating more space for relaxation and physical balance. Kinesiology works with the body’s innate intelligence through muscle monitoring, helping to uncover and release the underlying stressors—whether physical, emotional, or energetic—while supporting nervous system regulation. Counselling provides a safe space to explore the emotional roots of stress, offering tools and strategies for resilience and clarity.
These therapies recognise the powerful connection between mind and body. By addressing stress on multiple levels—physical, emotional, and energetic—they create lasting change, helping you move from survival mode into a state of calm, clarity, and vitality.
If stress has become part of your daily life, know that support is available. With the right care, you can release tension, restore balance, and rediscover your natural capacity for wellbeing.

I'm sure most of you are well aware of Tech Neck by now. Our chiropractor, Dr Nick, sees many of these cases each week, and we now have Theona Spurr available to do Workstation assessments to help you set yourself up to reduce any ongoing strain caused by poor ergonomics in the workplace.

Call us on 62815494 to discuss any help you might need.

💻 Spend hours on a computer for work or study?

The prevalence of neck pain is higher among office workers than in the general community, with studies suggesting 70% of desk workers report neck pain.

If you're a desk worker, you could be at risk of developing Tech Neck – a growing spinal health concern caused by poor posture and prolonged screen time.

Common symptoms include:
⚠️ Headaches
⚠️ Neck, shoulder, and upper back pain
⚠️ Postural changes and spinal curvature (especially in older adults)

Adjust your thinking: Prevention is the best protection:
✅ Maintain an upright, relaxed posture
✅ Take regular movement and stretching breaks
✅ Set your screen at eye level
✅ Use an ergonomic chair (knees slightly lower than hips)
✅ Consider a sit-stand desk to reduce spinal strain

This WorkSpace Week adjust your thinking to work well every day! Explore free resources, hints and tips, or to consult a chiro, visit www.workspaceweek.org.au - because prevention is the best protection!

I think this is an excellent way to think about parenting and the bonds we make with our children.

Britt from Safe Space Counselling is amazing in her understanding of the parent/ child dynamic. We are so lucky to have her practicing in Woden Wellness Centre.

To book an appointment with her please visit her website

Here's something that might change how you think about attachment security:

It's not about having a perfect childhood.

Research spanning 40 years reveals this powerful truth: it's not what parents experienced as children that matters most—it's how clearly they can reflect on those experiences.

This is why Circle of Security works. We help parents develop coherence: the ability to think about their story with awareness and choice rather than automaticity.

The beautiful part? This capacity can always be developed. Every parent's story matters, and every story can become more coherent.

What does this mean for your work with families?

Restoring Balance with Kinesiology and Mind Body Medicine

New to the Woden Wellness Centre, Jodie Evans offers a deeply holistic approach to healing through Kinesiology and Mind Body Medicine. With over 20 years of experience in holistic and energetic healing, Jodie helps clients release stress, emotional blockages, and unhelpful patterns so they can return to balance and vitality.

“Kinesiology is a gentle yet powerful way to communicate directly with the body’s innate intelligence,” Jodie explains. “Through muscle monitoring, we can identify where stress and
imbalance are being held, and then use a blend of Traditional Chinese Medicine and modern therapeutic tools - like acupressure, flower essences, nervous system regulation and
visualisation - to restore balance.”

If you’re feeling tired, stuck, on an emotional rollercoaster, or overwhelmed. If you have unexplained pain that doctors haven’t been able to help you with. If you have behavioural patterns that you don’t understand and want to let go. If you are feeling anxious and on edge or depressed. Jodie’s sessions provide a safe, supportive space for self-discovery and healing, addressing these issues and many more. Clients come seeking relief from ongoing pain, emotional overwhelm, or feeling stuck, and leave feeling lighter, clearer, and more aligned.

Jodie’s approach integrates seamlessly into the Woden Wellness Centre’s existing team of practitioners who work to support whole-person health. Services include Dr Nick Gondzioulis Chiropractor, Counselling with Andrea Myburgh or Britt McDonald-Hall, Fiona Joiner Naturopathy, Myofascial Unwinding, Hypnotherapy, Cranio-Sacral Therapy, and Breathwork with Theona Spurr, as well as Kinesiology and Mind Body Medicine with Jodie Evans at Ever Ascending Kinesiology.

This team shares a unified goal: to support whole-person wellness by addressing the physical, emotional, and energetic aspects of health. Located in the heart of Woden, the Centre offers a calm, nurturing space where clients are guided to heal, grow, and reconnect with their natural state of balance.
Sessions with practitioners are available at the Woden Wellness Centre, Unit 2, Gadal Chambers, 48 Corinna Street, Woden ACT. Book online at www.wodenwellness.com.au

🌿 From Good Girl to Sovereign Self 🌿

Growing up, many of us did what we needed to survive. We internalised our feelings, blamed ourselves for the tension around us, and worked hard to make things “right.”

We became the good girl—always aware, always helpful, never asking for too much. We played small so as not to take up space. We said “yes” to everyone, pouring ourselves out in order to feel safe, valued, accepted, and loved.

But these survival strategies can turn into lifelong programs—running quietly in the background, shaping our choices, and keeping us stuck in patterns that no longer serve us.

✨ As adults, we get to break free.
✨ We get to parent and love our inner child—reminding them they are safe, loved, and worthy, exactly as they are.
✨ We get to put boundaries in place, speak our needs, and say yes to ourselves.
✨ We get to take up space in this world—loud, vibrant, and unapologetically whole.

If outdated habits and programs are keeping you trapped in a life that feels too small, it may be time to release them. Imagine what it would feel like to:

💛 Step out of repeating patterns
💛 Honour your boundaries with ease
💛 Say yes to joy, rest, and self-care
💛 Embody your inner power and sovereignty

You don’t have to keep carrying what isn’t yours anymore.
Reach out today and let’s chat about how I can support you in letting go of the old, so you can step into a freer, more authentic you.

28/08/2025

Women’s Health Week (1-5 September) is Australia’s largest event dedicated to the health and wellbeing of all women, girls, and gender-diverse people. In 2024, the campaign reached a massive audience of five million Australians, with the expectation for this year’s figures to represent a marked improvement on those numbers.
In 2025, the Women’s Health Week theme is ‘𝐬𝐚𝐲 𝐲𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮,’ an invitation for everyone to speak up, check in, and prioritise their health and wellbeing. More often than not, women are the backbone of their families, workplaces, and communities, juggling multiple roles at once and balancing their responsibilities with those around them.
As a result, their health takes a back seat. This year’s Women’s Health Week calls on Australia’s female population to reclaim their health and prioritise themselves, to the benefit of society as a whole. Healthy, thriving women benefit their wide social circles immensely.
Each day of Women’s Health Week, Australian women are invited to take one simple step towards reclaiming and improving their health. 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝟏 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫, the campaign’s opening day, reminds us that ‘𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐤 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬.’ Regular health checks are the first step to understanding what’s normal for your body.
𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟐 𝐓𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝟐 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫, calls on them to ‘𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝’ and arm themselves with the right knowledge and tools to facilitate confident and informed conversations with their healthcare providers.
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝟑 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫, revolves around improving their heart health, exploring the topic of ‘𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭.’ This day revolves around taking control of their heart health, discovering the importance of heart checks, as well as learning the basics of blood pressure and cholesterol.
With cardiovascular disease a major cause of death for Australian women, understanding the habits and tools to make them heart-healthy is critical in improving the overall health of the nation’s female population.
𝟒 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐝𝐚𝐲 for women across the country to pause and remember that pain is not simply part of being a woman. The day’s theme, ‘𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫,’ reminds them they don’t need to push through; they deserve to be heard, understood, and provided with proper care.
𝐑𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫’𝐬 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐞 ‘𝐛𝐞 𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝,’ which stresses the importance of looking after one’s mind, something equally as important as caring for one’s body.

With Chiropractic, Kinesiology, and Naturopathy available at Woden Wellness Centre, we hope in some small way to support any person who requires help addressing opportunities to ‘𝐬𝐚𝐲 𝐲𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮,’ during Women's Health Week 2025.
