๐ŸŒŸ Service User Spotlight: Milly ๐ŸŒŸ

Say hello to Milly - an absolute legend in every sense! ๐Ÿ’› Milly has shown incredible determination, focus, and drive, taking on every challenge thrown her way. Her hard work has paid off in a huge way, and she has recently secured paid employment with The Pharmacy Guild!

Milly joined the Customised Employment Program in 2024 with a positive attitude toward finding meaningful work. She completed work experience at AEON Academy before successfully securing a placement with The Pharmacy Guild of Australia (TPG) through an authentic job interview. After completing a 10-week work experience and demonstrating her reliability and skills, Milly was offered supported employment, then open employment soon after. She now works one day per week at TPG and continues to develop her independence in the workplace.

Milly has been unstoppable in pursuing her goals, showing that dedication, persistence, and a positive attitude can lead to amazing achievements. Her story is a reminder of whatโ€™s possible when you put your mind to it, and sheโ€™s only just getting started!

Way to go, Milly! Youโ€™re an inspiration, a powerhouse, and a total trailblazer! ๐Ÿš€

๐Ÿ”ฆ This week, we wanted to put our artists under the spotlight and showcase some of the beautiful pieces that theyโ€™ve created! From Creative Class to Stitch Club, creativity flows through their fingertips and onto the canvas, leaving us with vibrant decorations to display throughout the Central Offices.

๐ŸŽจ Creative Class has been working on dot painting, pebble coasters, button art, and constructing a park bench with paddle pop sticks.

๐Ÿงต Stitch Club has made crochet coasters, spool birds, fabric necklaces, pom-poms, and fabric bookmarks.

๐Ÿค Menโ€™s and Womenโ€™s groups have been making affirmation stones, mandala art, and paddle pop stick houses.

๐Ÿ’› Weโ€™re so proud of the talent and imagination in our community. Each piece is a reminder that creativity is for everyone, and it brings colour and joy to our space every day.

Weโ€™re excited to share that our time at the Disability Expo over the weekend was a big success! ๐Ÿ™Œ

The event gave us the chance to connect with so many new people in the community - families, individuals, and supporters - and have meaningful conversations about the services we provide. These connections are at the heart of what we do, and weโ€™re grateful for the opportunity to meet more families so we can continue to support them in reaching their goals.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our stall, shared their stories, and took the time to learn more about how we can help. Every conversation helps us build stronger connections and provide better services for the people who need them.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Missed out on the Expo? Donโ€™t worry! you can still reach out to us anytime to learn more about our services and how we can support you.

It is with a deep sense of sadness and loss that Koomarri learned of the passing of Professor Douglas Boer.

Professor Boer was a key partner and friend of Koomarri for almost 13 years, providing invaluable clinical education, advice and practical support for many of our clients and staff.

We will remember his genuine care and compassion for people and for his outstanding clinical brilliance and mentorship.

Professor Boer made an exceptional contribution to so many people around the world and the impact of his work is far reaching and will be long lasting.

We feel blessed for having the privilege to have worked with Professor Boer and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family.
