We are very pleased that our conversion to our new practice software was successful. It's the first swap in over 20 years! The only thing that is not yet hooked up properly is HotDoc - this should be online soon.

Please be patient with our team as they learn the ropes and thanks to everyone for coming in today for training.

A big thanks to Dr Martin Liedvogel and our IT guru Lloyd for pulling huge hours over the weekend, too.

Business will resume as normal tomorrow, Tuesday 11th November. Thank you for your understanding!

Why do we support day every year? Very simply, because doctors are humans too, with all the normal human emotions that we all have. They grieve, they have family issues, they get sick, they have stressors; everything that we (as patients or members of a community) experience... they do too.

Crazysocks4docs is one small way of acknowledging that there's an oddity in our system that somehow forgets this inate humanness of doctors. To be honest, doctors themselves often also forget that they are human, too. They don't eat lunch, they work when sick or in distress, and often put their own needs last.

Doctors also often feel stigmatised when they seek mental health support, as they don't feel like there's a safe place to go. This is a contributing factor in the much larger suidice rate amongst doctors when compared to the general public.

We need to normalise doctors having normal human emotions and challenges. We wear our crazy socks with pride, and with sincere gratefulness for our wonderful, caring doctors.

Over the next two weeks we welcome Dr Colin Chow, who is a very experienced GP joining us for a two-week locum from Qld to fill in for a few doctors who are away. Dr Colin will be working across both Fisher Family Practice and Holder Family Practice from Monday 4th March.

Dr Chow has interests in chronic disease management and medical education. He holds teaching positions in clinical coaching of medical students at UQ, Griffith and Bond Universities.

Dr Colin is bookable via HotDoc or through reception at both sites. We hope this will be the first of many visits, so please make Dr Colin feel very welcome.
