PROJECT WIN: Wirra Mikangka Affordable Housing

Hindmarsh has been awarded the Design & Construction contract by Housing Choices Australia for Wirra Mikangka - the state’s first government-backed Build-to-Rent development.

This landmark project represents a major step forward for affordable and inclusive housing in South Australia, combining thoughtful design, accessibility, and community connection.

Hindmarsh will deliver 151 quality apartments across two towers (12,400 sqm GLA), with a mix social, affordable and market rental dwellings.

🏗️ Additional highlights include:

• A mix of studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom apartments
• 8 DDA-compliant accessible apartments
• A shared courtyard linking both towers, designed to encourage connection and recreation

The north tower will rise 29.45 metres along Greenhill Road, stepping down to a five-storey southern tower fronting Trust Lane - a dynamic, modern and people-centred approach to urban living.

We are honoured to play a key role in shaping the future of affordable housing in South Australia. Stay tuned for more updates as the project progresses.

PROJECT WIN: Lot 51, SA

Hindmarsh has secured the Design & Construct tender with Renewal SA to develop Lot 51 — our latest build-to-rent affordable housing project and another example of our proven capability in delivering inclusive, well-designed urban communities.

Rising 12 storeys above Bowden, Lot 51 will deliver 84 apartments, with 80 homes dedicated to eligible lower-income residents at 75% of market rent through a community housing provider. Four terrace-style residences will also be released for market sale, contributing to a diverse and balanced neighbourhood.

More than 1,100 sqm of retail and commercial space across the ground and mezzanine levels will activate the precinct and support everyday life.

Bowden is a place we know well — and a community we’re proud to help shape. With projects like Nightingale, B-Apartments, and ARC Bowden (currently under construction), we have a long-standing presence in the precinct, delivering homes that respond to how people live today.

Hindmarsh look forward to working closely with Renewal SA to strengthen infrastructure and continue building a connected, inclusive community.

Recently, we were privileged to attend MBA’s Centenary Dinner in Canberra – a truly memorable evening of celebration and reflection.

A highlight of the night was seeing our Chief Executive Officer, Rowan Hindmarsh, accept the award of the MBA ACT Membership Milestone for 45 Years. The room also paused for a heartfelt one-minute silence in memory of John Hindmarsh.

Across Hindmarsh’s 45 years, we have proudly earned more than 30 MBA Awards in the ACT (and more than 50 MBA Awards Nationally). Among our most celebrated achievements includes 5 Awards for the ANU John Curtin School of Medical Research and 3 Awards for the ANU Research School of Physics and Engineering.

Congratulations to the MBA on an extraordinary 100 years in Canberra. Here’s to a century of industry excellence — and to the many milestones still ahead.
