Hi I'm Vicki and I have over 20 years’ experience as an Exercise Physiologist, Soft Tissue Therapist and Pilates instructor. I have been a remedial massage therapist for the Australian and AIS (Australian Institute of sports) working with elite athletes including the Australian rowing, swimming and basketball teams and provided soft tissue services to the Australian Rowing team at the 2004 Athens Games. I am also a Level 2 cycling coach and have experience as the Associate Cycling Coach with the ACT Academy of Sport, particularly focused on talent identification of road cyclists. Rounding out my experience I have also been an elite athlete, holding an AIS cycling scholarship in 2008 and then riding as a professional cyclist for the Vision 1 and Lotto Belisol teams in 2009-2011 and representing Australia at four consecutive UCI Road World Championships in both the Road Race and Time Trial disciplines as well as the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi. My interest in bike fitting was first sparked by the bike fits and aerodynamic wind tunnel testing that I experienced as a professional athlete and have first hand experience of how important a good fit is to achieving performance and comfort on the bike. My qualifications and experience in Remedial Massage, Exercise Physiology and cycle coaching means that I am adept at assessing and and addressing injuries caused by a poor bicycle fit or due to movement patterns and daily activities that occur off the bike. Vicki also has qualifications specific to bike fitting, holding a bike fitting certification from F.I.S.T, the Fit Institute, SlowTwitch, which is run by Dan Empfield, the Publisher of Slowtwitch.com. At Winning Position, I aim to prescribe comfortable, injury free cycling positions that maximise performance. It is a process that involves addressing an individual’s biomechanics, the bike and the interaction between the two. I love helping cyclists from all disciplines whether they are looking to beat the world, ride around the block in comfort or anything in between. As a remedial massage therapist of 25 years I help people of all ages from all walks of life and have particular interest in individuals who like to be physically active and have goals for optimal health that is sustainable and maximises their health span- those years lived without chronic disease and conditions. I use a combination of hands-on/manual techniques such as trigger point therapy, myofascial release and PNF to address painful and dysfunctional soft tissue areas. As an adjunct I prescribe practical and do-able home strategies to get my clients back to moving and doing what they love.
