Topic : Birth Centre Nairobi - Appeal for Help

Dear all,as much of the world is struggling through rising costs of living some face an even more dire situation. Can you consider reading the story behind the Fremo Birth Centre in Kenya, that has truly emerged as a showcase of what humans can achieve when setting their mind on a common philanthropic goal.
The birth centre in the slums of Nairobi has become an institution spreading dignity and hope to families accessing it.
They are reaching out now as flooding has made the situation extremly unsafe .
See the gofundme post or contact Vicki Chan if you wanted to donate- all proceeds go directly towards FreMo Medical and Birth Centre, Kawangware-Nairobi Kenya .

Much love and light from Anne

As the end of financial year approaches please consider this worthy charity supporting Mums and their children- so many doing it tough at the moment🙏🏼🌈

WE ARE STILL SHORT – DONATIONS URGENTLY NEEDED – PLEASE SHARE

There’s only 7 sleeps until the end of the financial year and we need your urgent help.

It has been a big year but that has meant added responsibility for our organisation. This comes with more financial pressures and needs. It has been a year where our organisation has seen a jump in more than 50% more families needing our help.

Tonight, I’m asking for your urgent help. We still have a $23,000 shortfall that we need to raise before the end of the financial year for our Every Baby Needs Love and Support Appeal.

As you can imagine, most of our major fundraising opportunities have been cancelled over the last year meaning that, especially with the increase in demand, we desperately need the funds to continue to provide basic and essential baby and children's items to families in need.

I’m counting on you tonight to help chip in so we can be there for mums and their bubs and their families. We’ve recently helped a single Mum in her early 20s who escaped a violent relationship. She had a 4 year old, 3 year old and newborn twins. She lived in public housing, on a higher floor of a building with very steep stairs, with no lift.

She had no support from family or friends, was suffering from mental health issues and high financial stress. She couldn't afford to buy nappies! Through a Social Worker, Roundabout Canberra was able to provide her with a safe, high quality triple pram, cots for her twins, clothing for a year, car-seats, linen, toys, nappies and toiletries for each of her children. At no cost to her.

With your support, for every $1 that is donated our organisation can provide $4.50 worth of items, turning your donation into 4.5 times the amount donated.

Our Every Baby Needs Love and Support Appeal has a goal of $40,000, to help 400 families doing it tough. We know that demand will continue to increase for our services over the next little while and we need your help.

$30 helps fund a pack of nappies, wipes and a beautiful nappy bag filled with nappy change essentials and some toiletries for Mum.

Just $5 from each and every one of you would get us to our goal. It’s the cost of your next cup of coffee in the morning but one that will help a mum and their bub so much.

Tonight, please help us. It is urgent and we need you.

If you could please write the word DONE below after you have donated and remember to please share this post far and wide.

I’m crossing everything that we hit our target by the morning.

Please donate now: https://roundabout-canberra.giveeasy.org/every-baby-needs-love-and-support

I always have loved homevisits- no matter where I lived : I loved seeing the change in seasons. And the change I see in nature brings often some deep thoughts too about the circle of life and the amazing strength I get to witness in the families I support.

When things are easy… that is amazing

When things are not easy for a Mum and a baby- can we not presume that someone took an „ easy road“ or „ way out“?

Can we instead lend a shoulder, not try to fix it or ask whether help is needed and come from a point of love and kindness??

To all the hero Mums out there who are battling and still keep going or had to find solutions that you never hoped you would need: You are amazing❤️

“Recently I was told by people that I wasn’t doing enough!

That I wasn’t doing enough to have enough breastmilk

That I wasn’t trying hard enough to get my son to latch and breastfeed

That I should have done this... or done that

That everything I was doing was wrong and it’s my fault my son won’t breastfeed

All of these things made me feel more of a failure as a mom and added to my postpartum depression/anxiety

DO NOT tell me I’m not doing enough!!
Because I am doing everything and anything to give my son the best I can. I have spent $800 on pumping supplies I have spent $$$ of lactation products. I have drank/eaten everything suggested to increase my supply, I have taken supplements to increase my milk production, I am pumping EVERY 3 hours EVERY day to help get more milk even though it gives me anxiety and I hate it!! Bought countless of different styles of bottles closest to the breast shape, I am eating more because more calories equals more milk, I’m running on 5hrs of sleep every day just to stay up to dream feed my son.

I AM DOING ENOUGH, I AM ENOUGH!!! so stop telling moms they aren’t doing everything they can when you don’t know the individual struggles a new mom is facing!! Also f**k all y’all who think pumping isn’t sexy!
But thank you to those who are supportive and have given me courage to share my struggles, being a mom isn’t rainbows and unicorns, this sh*ts hard, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything” -
