17/11/2025

The Medical Schools Outcomes Database (MSOD) has been Australia’s national medical student data collection since 2004, capturing insights from over 34,000 students across all medical schools.

As final-year students, your voice matters. This year’s MSOD survey collects key information on demographics, career intentions, medical school experiences and practice preferences — data that helps shape evidence-based policy, medical workforce planning, and the future of training in Australia.

Medical Deans are also working with AHPRA and the Department of Health to link the MSOD with national workforce datasets, making it an even more powerful tool to understand where doctors are needed most.

If you’re graduating this year, please take a few minutes to complete the MSOD. Your contribution genuinely strengthens the future of our health system.

AMSA’s statement on the Health Crisis in Gaza

In the wake of the ceasefire, Palestinian civilians in Gaza continue to suffer.

AMSA is calling for immediate action for a sustainable and permanent ceasefire and the cessation of all human rights violations occurring in Gaza.

AMSA highlights the aid blockade, the abuse of healthcare workers, the destruction of the Palestinian healthcare system, the ongoing famine and the infectious diseases that, amongst others, threaten the lives and health of Palestinians.

AMSA Medical Student Research Alliance (new initiative group)

Do you want to lead medical research — not just join someone else’s project?

This is your opportunity to shape the future of student-driven medicine.

We’re now recruiting the 2026 Executive Committee for the Medical Student Research Alliance (MSRA) — Australia’s national research network where students transform ideas into publications.

Step into a role where you will:
✨ Build, lead, and inspire research teams
📈 Stand out in competitive training pathways with tangible academic achievements and proven research leadership
🤝 Collaborate with exceptional peers, mentors, and clinician-scientists
🏛️ Network with respected academics and hospital leaders — as a peer, not just a student
🌍 Be part of a national movement redefining what medical students can achieve in research

At MSRA, you don’t wait for opportunity — you become the one who creates it. You set the vision. You choose your collaborators. You build the systems that help students publish and succeed.

Applications now open until Dec 7.

Join the team powering Australia’s most ambitious network for student-led research.

Your publication journey. Your leadership story. Your future in medicine — built here.

🚀 Lead. Publish. Inspire.

Apply now.

Our Story

In 1960 a small group of medical students in Brisbane created what would become one of the largest student organisations in the world. Today the Australian Medical Students' Association (AMSA) has grown into a massive not-for-profit and the peak representative body for Australia’s 17, 000 medical students.

AMSA exists for you, so that you may find your voice, grow and be inspired. Standing on generations of friendship and Hawaii 5-0s, we exist to bring people together. And as the health community of today and tomorrow, we exist to advocate for a better world on a local, national and global level.

To keep up to date with what AMSA is doing for you, like this page, head on over to our website www.amsa.org.au or chat to your local AMSA Representative.
