Last week we farewelled our amazing Elise, Therapy Assistant. An absolute joy to have around the office, we will miss her so much but we wish her all the very best as she starts her OT career in a hospital setting. TCH is so lucky to have her and we know she’ll make such a terrific OT.

We have some BIG news to share. Our clients will have already received this via email a few weeks ago.

Kids’ Space OT has been operating now for over 10 years and in that time seen and adapted to significant change in the industry - I mean, when we started NDIS didn’t even exist!
It started with just me in early 2013, as a sole practitioner working out of my garage that my husband (who is not a tradie) fitted out!

We are excited to announce that in the new year, we will be joining forces with Eat Speak Learn next door. This will allow me to step back from the many stressors of running a business in the current landscape and focus on the things I really care about - the provision of really high quality OT intervention and the training and supervision of Junior OTs to develop their skills to grow into clinically strong OTs.

We are also looking forward to working in a multidisciplinary team (MDT) which means that we will able to provide more holistic intervention for our clients and better coordinate their therapies for better outcomes.

More info has been sent to our current and waitlist clients - please see the email for more details. If you have any questions at all please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Our reindeers might look like they’ve had a few too many rum balls (swipe for the inspo 🤣) but gosh they were fun to make while working on tactile exposure, food play, fine motor and executive functioning.

Look at this really simple but fun way to work on strengthening our core! This activity requires very little items (sticky tape and plastic balls) and can be set up at home, school or in any therapy space.

This is a great activity that works on postural control, core stability, visual scanning skills, bilateral coordination and midline crossing.

See how many balls you can collect with your feet in a row!

Last week, Rachel attended Becoming a Behavioural Detective with Kim Barthel.

'Regulation is not a state of calm, it is a state of connection'. Kim spoke about the importance of connection and relationships, and the impact this has on the body. Behaviour is always communication, and Kim spoke about the impact of arousal on sensory, emotional and cognitive processes in the brain.

With a lifetimeof experience and stories, it was a fantastic opportunity for Rachel to be able to learn from her.

And bonus, Rachel won a copy of Conversations with a Rattlesnake.
