Rabbitohs half-back Adam Reynolds sustained an injury to his elbow during last night's game.
Strapping was applied which allowed him to play on.
However, I question the rational of this management approach.
This type of on field decision making attempts to manage the risk of playing on with an injury vs taking the player off the field for assessment and treatment.
If he recovers quickly those making the decision look clever if not........!
I would like to consider the alternative of replacing the injured player. Surely, Reynolds contribution to the game was compromised after the injury.
Interchange rules need to take into account the player's welfare first and foremost.
On field heroics have their place but they have repercussions to the individual and the team.
