Defence Health Claiming Issue – Update

We’re currently seeing some Defence Health claims decline when processed in-clinic. We’ve been advised this is due to a known internal Defence Health issue relating to their provider records. They’re working on a fix, however there’s no confirmed timeframe at this stage.

In the meantime, some claims may need to be submitted manually.
✅ After your appointment, we can provide an itemised invoice/receipt so you can claim directly with Defence Health.

Everything appears to be working correctly on our end. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the practice.

Update: Our Bupa claiming now appears to be working normally. 😀

Have a great day and long weekend — it’s our honour to care for veterans and their families, as well as our wider community.

The Christmas season is a busy time for everyone, and our team is working hard to look after our community as best as we can. We understand it can also be a stressful time.

We kindly ask everyone to be patient and respectful with our staff during this period.

We hate to have to make this clear, especially at this time of year, however our team deserves a safe and comfortable workplace, and we won’t tolerate rude or aggressive behaviour. If someone makes our staff feel unsafe or uncomfortable, phone calls may be ended, and anyone behaving poorly may be asked to leave the premises.

Thank you for your kindness and understanding — it really does make a difference. We are here to help you. 🙏

As we head toward the Christmas period, we want to let everyone know that while we currently have availability for new chiropractic patients, these spots are limited. With our upcoming clinic closure over the Christmas break, we won’t be taking on urgent or acute new cases in the final days of the year, as they often require multiple visits and ongoing support that we can’t provide during the shutdown.

If you’re experiencing pain or considering starting chiropractic care before the end of the year, we encourage you to book ahead so we can look after you properly.

Research Update From Our Clinic

A new editorial has been published in BMJ Open Sport & Exercise Medicine on how exercise can be prescribed more precisely for chronic musculoskeletal pain. We’re happy to share that Dr Nash Anderson was invited to this international paper to contribute as a co-author, offering clinical insight into how research can better support real-world care.

The article explains that exercise is one of the most effective treatments for long-term back pain, neck pain, arthritis and other MSK conditions. But many studies don’t clearly report the details of their exercise programs — things like intensity, frequency, progression and supervision. Without this information, it becomes harder for clinicians to prescribe the right exercise dose for each person.

The authors call for stronger reporting standards so future research can guide truly individualised, safe and effective exercise programs. This matches our own approach in the clinic, where we focus on personalised care, clear guidance and evidence-informed exercise.

If you’d like support with tailored exercise for chronic pain, we’re here to help.

We’re pleased to remind everyone that our chiro Dr Jay Nguyen is available from Wednesday through Saturday, with regular Saturday appointments for added convenience. Saturdays are perfect for anyone who struggles to get in during the week or prefers a weekend option to stay on top of their spinal health.

Jay is an evidence-based chiropractor with a strong focus on spinal health, mobility, and functional biomechanics. His approach combines thorough assessment, hands-on treatment, and practical advice to support comfortable movement in day-to-day life.

He has a particular interest in managing back and neck pain, chronic postural issues, and reduced mobility. Jay’s active lifestyle—running, hiking, and soccer—gives him a real-world understanding of the physical demands many patients face, helping him tailor care to support work, sport, and daily activity.

Today we honour and remember the service and sacrifice of veterans and their families.

We are grateful for the commitment of those who have served, and we are honoured to support veterans in their ongoing health and wellbeing.

At 11am, we would like to encourage that we observe one minute of silence to reflect on those who have served and those who continue to serve.

Lest we forget.

Interesting fact of the day - a recent study found that soft drink consumption is linked to an increased risk of major depressive disorder and greater depressive symptom severity, mediated by changes in gut microbiota, particularly Eggerthella abundance.
