Term 2 of the Yoga for Runner's Classes starts next Tuesday 14th May at 6:45pm at illeso studio.
Whether you are an Ultramarathon runner, a social runner or even a walker, it can be helpful to incorporate a yoga session into your training regime once a week.
We will not only stretch but will also work on strength, balance, proprioception and recovery. This will assist with your running and everyday life.
All levels of yoga are welcome.

Yoga can provide a nice mental break for runners. You can let go of any competitiveness (even with yourself) and allow yourself to just be and relax.

At the Yoga for Runner's Classes we'll be practicing some of these relaxation techniques which will improve your sleep and stress levels and speed up your recovery time between runs.

Come along to the yoga classes for runners on Tuesday nights to improve your balance and proprioception. The standing and balancing poses will strengthen your lower legs, ankles and feet.

Instead of moving in a linear direction, like in running, yoga will move your body through every available direction – sometimes standing, sometimes lying, sometimes upside down. This can increase your body awareness and sense of where your body is in space. This extra lower leg strength and heightened body awareness will help to keep you from falling on uneven ground whilst trail running and will also help you to absorb the impact of running on a hard surface.

Term 4 of the yoga classes for runners starts this evening at 6pm. It's not too late to pay for all 8 sessions and receive a discount.

Most people immediately think of stretching when they picture yoga and although this is a strong element of the practice, strength is just as important. Strengthening underused muscles or muscles that are typically weak in runners helps to prevent injury and improve performance.
Yoga creates whole body, functional strength and long, lean fibres so that you stay light on your feet.
At the Yoga for Runner's Classes you will learn some of these strengthening poses.

The aim of Yoga for Runners isn't to put you in pretzel like postures and make you overly flexible, but is about bringing balance back to your body. The repetitive action of running can lead to injury and muscles that are out of balance. At the Yoga for Runner's Classes you will learn how to stretch muscles that are typically tight from running, like your hamstrings, hips, glutes and calves. This will bring balance and mobility back to your body, which can help to prevent injury, bring more fluidity to your running style and prevent aches and pains.

The Yoga for Runner's Classes are starting again on Tuesday the 15th August at 6:45pm at illeso studio in Aranda. The classes are an hour and the 6 week term finishes on the 19th September.

Last chance to pay for all 8 classes of the term and receive a discount on the Yoga for Runner's Classes.

The classes start tomorrow. As I had to cancel last week I have added an extra week to the classes so it still equals an 8 week term and will finish on the 27th June.
