I know sometimes empathy can be hard but saying these things create a feeling of being dismissed which will make it harder for your teen to talk to you.

I know it’s cheesy but it’s true… if you feel something hard today maybe just wait until tomorrow before you take any action. If it still hurts maybe reach out and talk to someone?

Yes of course it is scary… I walked away from a career in education that I’d been in for nearly 20 years … but I feel so much better working for myself and what I believe in… I miss some parts some time (mostly the students and amazing colleagues) but now I am building a business and hopefully a culture that both supports others and is happening in my way.
