The Doula Conference 2026 was an incredible, heart opening weekend. Myself and 3 other Canberra doulas , and travelled up to Cronulla where we were so lucky to have a little place only 5 mins walk from the gorgeous Shelly beach ocean pool 🌊
The range of speakers at the conference was excellent - we heard from Australian maternal health industry leaders from multiple fields and were supported to explore aspects of our own business too. Feeling so inspired to continue this amazing, fulfilling work for many years to come.

Savoury muffins are so simple to whip up, and so nutritious and delicious for postpartum!
Using as many organic ingredients as possible is ideal - flour, cheese, any vegetables you like, eggs, plus nitrate free ham of course.
I often suggest that I cook a batch or 2 of these during a postpartum support visit as they only take a short time to prepare and bake. They freeze well and can be reheated for a one handed meal or snack so easily, with extra lashings of organic butter of course 🧈

Just had an incredible dance at Canberra Esctatic Dance!! So hot but they kept us cool with fans, spray bottles and a break out room with air con, it was absolutely magical. Thank you , and 🙏💃🥰

Mmmm … mixing up a double batch of Maple and Cardamom Muffins. Even the raw mixture smells incredible 🤤
I love that these are refined sugar free - the only sweet ingredient is an ENTIRE bottle of maple syrup 😆

🌿 Doulas are the specialists in continuous, hands‑on, emotional, physical, and informational support during labor.

Not medical care.
Not clinical decision‑making.
But labor support? That is their entire domain.

Midwives are experts in physiologic birth and clinical care.
Doulas are experts in supporting the birthing person through the process itself.

Their skill set is unique:
Comfort measures
Positioning
Coping techniques
Advocacy support
Partner coaching
Trauma‑informed care
Continuous presence (something no other provider offers)

And the research is rock‑solid:
Continuous labor support from a doula leads to:
Lower C‑section rates
Less need for pain medication
Shorter labors
Higher satisfaction
Better outcomes for parents and babies. No other role in the birth room is trained specifically and exclusively for this.

Our Live Well and Canberra Doulas Christmas gatherings reminded me again what lovely, caring, supportive people I have in my work life. They are all so dear to my heart…I really couldn’t do what I do without them by my side. This year has been huge for me, with lots of very fulfilling postpartum doula and reiki work for both myself and Live Well, my 7th year of office and reception duties at Live Well, 2 absolutely gorgeous mother blessing ceremonies, a custom design henna belly, 2 incredible birth clients and 6 lovely Ayurvedic meals clients. I’m looking forward to another wide and varied year next year supporting my beloved Canberra community in both general health and perinatal wellbeing

In my happy place, cooking up a batch of 40 ayurvedic meals for a gorgeous return client who ain’t yet ready to go back to ‘normal’ food 😆👩‍🍳🍛🥰 Fair enough too! We have 50 more serves to go over 2 more visits. This amazing lady has deeply honoured her postpartum period, it’s such a joy to witness and support a mama who knows her worth and prioritizes rest and nourishment 🥲💪🤱

What an absolute honour and pleasure it was to host a mother blessing ceremony for the beautiful shining soul 🥹🥰💖💐🎨🕯️🥲🌿👯‍♀️💎
Her nearest and dearest women rose to the occasion and showered her with so much love and the most heartfelt blessings for the upcoming birth of her much anticipated second babe.
I am in absolute awe of how consciously she and Joe parent their gorgeous girl Ilua and how deeply they love each other. This young one has chosen well and I wish them the most wonderful, smooth and healing journey as they evolve into the next version of themselves as a family of four.
If you haven’t already, I highly recommend adding the podcast to your playlist. Kirsten and have created it to share their motherhood journeys, they absolutely bare their souls and their stories and wisdom are a must listen!
