🚗 From Garden Care to Work Transport – That’s Real Support

Last week, one of our participants messaged to say Paul did a fantastic job on her garden—even though he was in pain, he powered through because he didn’t want to let her down. 💪🌱

Then she mentioned she had a casual job but no way to get to work… so we jumped straight into action.

This week? We’re getting her safely to and from work in Watson and Forde every day. Different hours, different locations—no problem. That’s what person-led care looks like.

Support shouldn’t just tick boxes—it should fit real lives.

Real Story — Cultural Care Matters

Recently, we met a participant who had just moved to Canberra.

She was feeling lonely, far from her family, and missed her Korean culture deeply especially the food, the language, and those little caring touches that make a house feel like home.

We talked about how we could help and while we have wonderful multicultural staff, she gently said:

‘Ann… it would make me feel so happy to have someone who understands my Korean culture.’

So we reached out to my local network, and soon connected with a lovely Korean support worker who joined our team.

Now, this participant enjoys home-cooked Korean meals, companionship in her own language, and even a gentle hand to rub her back when she needs some extra comfort during personal care.

This is what genuine care means to me.
It’s not just providing ‘services’ it’s seeing the whole person, respecting who they are, and creating support that truly feels like home.

And the beautiful part? We’ve now grown our team with several more caring Korean support workers, so we can offer this special kind of culturally sensitive care to others too
