COOKING 👩🏽‍🍳

Participants had a fantastic time preparing homemade chicken schnitzel with their own seasoned breadcrumbs, served alongside crispy chips and a fresh garden salad. They were involved in every step of the process, from preparing and coating the chicken to making the breadcrumbs from scratch and carefully cooking each piece to golden perfection. Throughout the session, participants practised important kitchen skills such as safe food handling, following recipes, measuring ingredients, and working as a team. Preparing the chips and assembling the salad encouraged independence and healthy meal planning, while building confidence in creating a complete, balanced lunch. Sitting down to enjoy a meal they had made from scratch was a rewarding experience that everyone felt proud of.

WOODWORK 🪵

Participants proudly worked together to design and create a custom woodwork sign for our woodwork room, showcasing their creativity and practical skills. Using reclaimed timber and a variety of materials, they measured, cut, sanded, and assembled each letter with care, learning to safely use tools and equipment along the way. The project encouraged teamwork, planning, and problem-solving, as participants collaborated on the layout and design to ensure the sign was both eye-catching and meaningful. Seeing the finished sign displayed outside the work room has given everyone a strong sense of achievement and ownership of their space, reflecting the hard work and pride they put into the project.

Wood work 🪵

Participants have been busy designing and building creative truck-shaped planter boxes to grow their own vegetables. Using hands-on woodworking skills, they measured, assembled, sanded, and painted each truck, adding personality with bright colours and familiar supermarket logos. This engaging project supports the development of practical skills such as teamwork, planning, problem-solving, and tool safety, while also encouraging creativity and pride in their work. Once completed, the truck planters will be filled with soil and seasonal veggie seedlings, giving participants the opportunity to learn about gardening, responsibility, and healthy food choices as they nurture and harvest their own produce.
