The Nappy Collective’s major campaign for 2024 is almost here! Clean Bums for Little Ones will run from April 26 - May 24, and we're calling upon our incredible Collective Community (you) to donate much-needed nappies for families in crisis.

With over 11,000 families waiting, we need to collect 350,000 nappies so vulnerable children can have a clean, healthy and happy start to life.

Because every little one deserves the dignity and comfort of a clean bum.

End of the year got you feeling like this?? It can feel like a struggle at this time of the year, busy at work, kids finishing school and all the season's events and indulgences can have us feeling a little overwhelmed.

There are often things we know will help like exercise, eating well, getting enough sleep, meditating but often it is at times like this, when we need our self-care strategies the most, that we are most likely to drop them and end up stressed, overwhelmed and on the couch bingeing netflix and shoving wine and chocolate in our face.

But it doesn't have to be that way, we can choose to take some of that time and prioritise the things we know will make us feel better. Sometimes you have to make an appointment with yourself so that it doesn't get pushed out of the busy schedule.

I'd love to know, who would be interested in a short, end of the year wrap up meditation workshop? An hour or so to take stock of the year that was, calm the nervous system and prepare for the wonderful (but crazy) time that is the holidays. I'm thinking a zoom session, recorded in case you can't make it live. Who's keen?

"Years ago, anthropologist Margaret Mead was asked by a student what she considered to be the first sign of civilization in a culture. The student expected Mead to talk about fishhooks or clay pots or grinding stones.
But no. Mead said that the first sign of civilization in an ancient culture was a femur (thighbone) that had been broken and then healed. Mead explained that in the animal kingdom, if you break your leg, you die. You cannot run from danger, get to the river for a drink or hunt for food. You are meat for prowling beasts. No animal survives a broken leg long enough for the bone to heal.

A broken femur that has healed is evidence that someone has taken time to stay with the one who fell, has bound up the wound, has carried the person to safety and has tended the person through recovery. Helping someone else through difficulty is where civilization starts, Mead said."

We are at our best when we serve others. Be civilized.

Beloved teacher and author Thich Nhat Hanh passed away peacefully on January 21, 2022, at the age of 95. đź’™ Thay, as he was known to his students, launched so many of us at Sounds True on our journeys into the miracle of deep presence.

If Thay touched your life in some way, we hope you’ll take a moment to breathe, and then to appreciate and remember him with us.

In celebration of his life and teachings, please enjoy a complimentary copy of his 6-hour audio program Living Without Stress or Fear.

There is no fast-track in eating disorder recovery. Instead, there are weeks upon weeks of ups and downs, set-backs and triumphs, giving up and starting again. Eating disorders are ego-syntonic, they are hard to kick. Yet, with the right treatment team by your side, you can absolutely find your way to a healthier relationship with yourself, food and your body.
How will you know when you are there? There's no precise little box to be ticked; but when you're consistently choosing your life over your eating disorder, with less and less guilt about doing so, we'd say you're pretty much there!

It's a face that glowered from every page this week as a woman with nothing to apologise for revealed her unvarnished fury. And it's kind of shocking to realise how shocking it is, writes Virginia Trioli.

This year, we've introduced a new CRANAplus Award, the Ray Wyeth Early to Remote Practice Award, in honour of the late Ray Wyeth.

In 2012, Ray transitioned to remote area nursing, fulfilling a lifelong goal. In the years that followed, he emerged as an inspirational mentor to nurses considering their own remote transition.

This award follows Ray's lead in encouraging and recognising an emerging remote health professional who demonstrates commitment and cultural safety.

If you know someone with less than 3 years of experience in remote area practice, you can nominate them now at crana.org.au/awards
