Asthma treatment in Australia has changed. Is your action plan up to date?
Asthma management guidelines have evolved in recent years, with many Australians no longer advised to rely on a blue reliever inhaler alone.
For many adolescents and adults, even those with mild asthma, combination inhalers (containing both a preventer and a fast-acting reliever) are now recommended. Evidence shows this approach can reduce flare-ups and lower the risk of hospital presentations. There are also additional add-on therapies and biologic treatments available for people living with severe asthma.
Regular review matters.
If you or your child haven’t updated your asthma action plan recently, it may be time for a check-in.
At Top Health Doctors, our GPs review medications, assess inhaler technique, and ensure action plans reflect current recommendations, helping patients stay well and confident in managing their asthma.
