With very heavy hearts, we’re gently sharing with our community the passing of our beautiful Syd.

Syd came to RDA Oakford after serving our great state as a police horse, and over the years it became clear that he always loved having a job.

Eagerly waiting at the gate and ready to go every morning, he served so many riders diligently and taught us volunteers to keep up with the program (Syd’s program).

Syd was always so full of life and was only ever going to cross the rainbow bridge on his own terms. He passed peacefully on Wednesday night, with his devoted best friend Shirley beside him.

Rest easy, our steady, stoic boy. Thank you for everything 💜

As we wrap up another incredible year at RDA, we want to take a moment to acknowledge the heart and hands behind everything we do 💜🐴

🌿 To our amazing volunteers – thank you.
Your time, patience, strength, and kindness are what make each session possible. Whether you’re leading horses, supporting our riders, feeding, coaching, or helping behind the scenes, you’ve made an immeasurable difference. We truly couldn’t do this without you.

🐴 To our riders – congratulations on a wonderful year.
You’ve shown resilience, courage, growth, and joy in every lesson. We are so proud of each and every achievement, big and small. Watching your confidence flourish is the reason RDA exists.

💛 Yellow Saturday – Makeup day is October 11th, then fortnightly lessons resume as normal from October 18th.

💚 Green Saturday – Start back on October 25th.

🐴 Join Our Maintenance Crew at RDA Oakford! 🔧

Do you have a few spare hours and a knack for fixing, building, or keeping things in top shape? We’re looking for volunteers to be part of our Maintenance Crew at RDA Oakford!

From mowing, gardening, and painting to general repairs and odd jobs, our behind-the-scenes crew plays a huge role in keeping our centre safe, welcoming, and ready for riders and horses each week. 🌿🏠

👉 Whether you can lend a regular hand or just help out occasionally, we’d love to have you on board. No special skills needed – just a willingness to get stuck in and be part of a great team!
