A little look inside Write to Speak 🗣️ 💬
I’ve designed the clinic to be a calm, sensory-friendly space for kids and young adults with additional needs - somewhere they can feel comfortable, supported and ready to communicate.

The space includes:
• A calming colour palette to reduce overwhelm
• Adjustable lighting and dimmers for a softer, more soothing environment
• Flexible seating options so kids can choose where they feel most regulated
• Play-based areas and quiet corners to suit different learning needs

Every part of the clinic was created with safety, comfort and confidence in mind.

If you’d like to see it in person, I’m celebrating with my Grand Opening this Sunday (7 Dec, 11am–2pm) - everyone is welcome to pop in 💙🧡💛

It’s Speech Pathology Week 2025! 🗣️

This year’s theme is Impact Through Communication – a reminder of how important communication is.

Speech pathologists help children and young adults develop the skills they need to communicate in everyday life:

⭐ A child asking to join a game at school
⭐ A child letting a teacher know when they need help
⭐ A teenager speaking up in class or with friends
⭐ A child asking a teacher for clarification on a task
⭐ A young adult ordering food or asking for directions
⭐ A young adult explaining their needs at work or in the community

These everyday moments might seem small, but they make a big difference for independence, confidence, and connecting with others.

Did you know?
- 1 in 4 children are not developmentally on track with their communication skills when they start school.
- Over 1 million Australians have a communication disability that affects their ability to understand and/or be understood by others.
- 3 in 5 people with an unmet need for formal assistance with communication are children.
- Speech pathologists support communication, social communication, reading, writing, and more - helping every person’s voice be heard.

Bilingualism & Speech Development: What Parents Need to Know 🗣️🌍

One of the most common questions I hear from parents is: Will speaking two languages confuse my child? The short answer - no! But there are a lot of myths out there about bilingual language development, and it can be hard to know what’s true.

In my latest blog post, I break down the facts and share practical tips for supporting bilingual children as they learn to communicate. Whether you’re raising a bilingual child or just curious about how multiple languages impact speech and language development, I think you’ll find it helpful.

Why Do Children Have Lisps? Understanding the Role of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy

Have you ever wondered why some children have difficulty pronouncing sounds like /s/ and /z/? A lisp can be caused by factors such as tongue thrust, weak oral muscles, mouth breathing, or prolonged oral habits like thumb sucking.
As a speech pathologist, I often see children struggling with lisps that persist beyond early childhood. While some kids naturally outgrow them, others need specialised support. This is where Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (OMT) comes in!

OMT helps retrain the tongue, lips, and jaw to improve articulation, strengthen oral muscles, and support correct speech patterns. By addressing the root causes of a lisp, we can help children speak with clarity and confidence.

If you're curious about how OMT works and why early intervention is key, check out my latest blog post:
