Need a reboot on the milk factory!
Consider
⭐️Wearable only use can mean lower milk volumes so sometimes throwing in some pumps with a traditional fl**ge pump
⭐️Fl**ge sizing matters - too big , too small can create breast and ni**le pain and may reduce milk volumes and increase risk of inflammatory mastitis
Fl**ge inserts are usually the only option for wearables but with traditional pumps hard fl**ges in the right size are available
⭐️Is your pump or parts worn out ?
They have a motor life and towards the end can lose efficiency and parts need replacing so check manufacturer recommendations

As a Lactation Consultant I get asked this question all the time!
There are sooooo many !
One of my very organised mum's started this task of compiling all the current Australian Wearable Breastpump manufacturers with categories
Australian only was chosen due to easier return and access to spare parts when needing to replace which all pumps will need
If this is information missing with particular pumps its because the information wasn't easily available on the website
They are in no particular order and I have not received any inducements from companies to be on the list
For the spreadsheet and additional tips on what to consider

Breast size is related to the amount of fatty tissue .
The breasts can often be different sizes before pregnancy
During pregnancy glandular (milk making) tissue is developing in preparation for breastfeeding.
So the breast size can change again
In the first week after having our babies they can change again with breastmilk production
Then in the following weeks they can change again as the breast shift from hormone driven milk production to baby driven
It is the amount of glandular (milk producing) tissue in your breast that matters and that is not usually related to the size of your breasts.
The amount of milk stored in breasts varies between women but it is also not related to the overall breast size. Your milk storage volume may even vary between your breasts.

Gosh the special K mouth for breastfeeding baby'sstill gets trotted out even in 2024 .

Gosh the special K mouth for breastfeeding baby's
still gets trotted out even in 2024 .

“Flanging lips”, “special K lips”,
“fish lips” , “top lip curling in too much” It’s all rubbish when it comes to how a baby latches 🙄
Basically the lips just provide the seal which helps to create vacuum to remove milk.
This seal is more than just lips being able to hang on , it’s impacted by gravity, positioning of BOTH mum & bub and speed of milk flow.
Lips can sit & look any way a baby likes 🤷‍♀️
Trying to pull out babies lips while they are feeding is an old, outdated and incorrect practice that will essentially pull a baby back to a shallow latch!
No baby needs their lips touched or fiddled with while they are trying to feed.
Suggestions that babies need a lip tie released to fl**ge out their top lip more to help breastfeeding are just B…sh.t!
It’s just NOT true and NOT supported by one scrap of evidence! 😡

Good positioning IS what all newborns and young babies need to improve latching.
They benefit greatly from being positioned in a way which optimises their own natural ability and instincts to attach to the breast and latch deeply. A mums own body positioning can help enormously if a baby is having latching difficulties.

Many babies are also not born with “perfect” feeding/ latching skills.
Their feeding skills and confidence improve steadily over time with practice and patience. 🙌
Babies are not born with abnormal lips which negatively impact on breastfeeding 🤷‍♀️
Forget about the lips!!!
Your baby’s lips are just fine and please don’t listen to anyone who tells you otherwise. 🙏
Trying to “fix” your baby’s lips will not help latching issues or ni**le pain.
If you have ongoing ni**le or breast pain or ongoing latching difficulties you need help from a skilled practitioner who can perform a FULL lactation assessment to look at both YOU and your baby. 🙏
Many ongoing latching and ni**le pain issues during lactation have nothing to do with the baby and EVERYTHING to do with the mum and how her breasts and body are working! ✅

" He always took bottles before when I've been feeding and now he just won't"
It's not that he won't he can't and needs help to learn how
This is a familiar story and it can create alot of tension in a family especially if there are deadlines around the need for the baby to take a bottle e.g breastfeeding and return to work, wanting to wean , family events etc
Reach out for individualised care !
