Do you currently play sport in the Loddon Campaspe region*? Or have you played sport in this region in the past 5 years? Are you over 16 years of age?

Sports Focus, Leisure Networks and researchers at La Trobe University want to better understand our sporting communities so we can then work with them to develop supports to make sport a safe place, preventing & responding to gender abuse.

🔸This survey is open to anyone over the age of 16 who has been involved in any sporting club in the Loddon Campaspe region over the last 5 years.🔸

Please complete our survey. It will take approx. 15 minutes to complete. Your decision to participate in the survey is voluntary. https://bit.ly/3VjCLRm

Extreme heat has been forecast in our region over the coming days. Survive the heat by following these five tips:

1. Drink plenty of water. Stay hydrated with frequent sips.
2. Hot cars kill. Never leave kids, adults or pets in cars, as the temperature inside a parked car can double within minutes.
3. Keep cool. Draw your blinds, use a fan, take cool showers and dress in light, loose clothing made from natural fabrics.
4. Plan ahead and schedule activities in the coolest part of the day.
5. Check in on others. Look out for anyone vulnerable – neighbours who live alone, an elderly friend or family member, people with medical conditions and your pets.

The experience of grief should not be confused with depression although there are some common symptoms between the two.
If your grief persists for an extended period and prevents you from returning to normal activities, it is important to seek professional advice.

While grieving is a normal process, depression is a mental illness that can be effectively managed with the right care.
The sudden loss of a loved one can be a potential trigger for suicidal thoughts and feelings.

It is important to be aware of this and to seek help if this happens.

Kobe works in schools helping educate young men about healthy masculinities. He knows the power of being a good role model and speaking out against disrespect.

We sat down with Kobe and his co-worker Mufaro to discuss their work and why they are so passionate about helping young men.

Violence against women is preventable, and it’s a challenge that belongs to all of us. Learn more: https://tinyurl.com/dxe748yy.

Snake activity has increased throughout the Loddon Mallee region following the floods.
If you find a snake, do not panic. Step back from it slowly and allow it to proceed on its way. Do not touch the snake.
Call the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning on 136 186 for a list of snake catchers in your area.
If you are bitten by a snake:
• do not wash the skin around the bite
• keep still and get urgent medical help by calling 000
• lie down or sit with the bite below the level of your heart
• cover the area with a clean and dry dressing. If available, a firm bandage around the area where the bite occurred is also recommended
• note the time of the bite and when the bandage was put on
• do not apply a tourniquet, cut the bite to release the venom or try to suck the venom out of the wound

Our Story

The Central Victorian Health Alliance P*P was established in 2000, initiated and funded by the Victorian Government with the aim to “improve the health and wellbeing of people using primary care services and to reduce avoidable use of hospital, medical and residential services”. The members of the Partnership are local governments, hospital and health services, community and women’s health services, medical practices, aboriginal health services, disability services and non-profit organisations based in or servicing the Shires of Central Goldfields, Macedon Ranges and Mount Alexander. These partners are supported by a staff of 3 EFT, which assist in implementing strategies for integrated health promotion, social inclusion and partnership development. The role of the staff is also to enhance communication between the partners. 2014 saw a name change to Central Victorian P*P which better reflects our organisational work and focus.
