Back, Hamstrings & Hip Stretches

These are not magic stretches, but they could be beneficial in minimising muscle tension and alleviating pain symptoms in the posterior chain. Individuals with chronic conditions such as lumbar spondylosis, herniated disk, sciatica and persistent tension in the back can also try these stretches. So why not add them in your mobility exercise routine.

Disclaimer: Always consult your PT, Physiotherapist or Exercise Physiologist for proper guidance. Some of these stretches may need to be adjusted or modified to suit your needs. What works for one person may not work for someone else.

Meet our inspiring 90 year old member, Ken!💪

We asked Ken how he stays so healthy and fit and here’s what he had to say:

🏋️‍♂️ You’ve got to have an ultimate goal. Mine was to lift my own body weight and I did it! He weights 58kg and last year, he squatted 60kg! He started at 20kg a few years before that.

🧠 A positive mental health attitude is everything. If you want to stay healthy, you’ve got to believe in yourself and stay focused on your goals.

4-5 years of training with , consistent effort and determination

We love ya Ken 😌

Lower Back Injury

Hurt your lower back lifting heavy weights (i.e performing deadlifts) and all of a sudden you experience a twinge in the back?

The exercises in the video maybe useful in getting the movement back into the spine and to put you back in the position you got hurt initially. This will then allow you to build some tolerance back into that position.

You could also add loaded movements such as hyperextension machine and back extension isometric exercise to this program .

Note:
✅It is important to note that you can be strong and be doing everything right and still get hurt.

✅The stress is the cure- If you are trying to get back into performing specific compound movements (i.e deadlifts) or other specific movements, doing things that mimic that or building up to the tolerance is the way to go🏋
