Are you considering breast augmentation surgery and researching implant placement techniques?⁣

You’ve most likely come across terms like ‘over the muscle’, ‘under the muscle,’ and ‘dual plane,’ but what does it all mean?⁣

Dr Moncrieff explains more on why he favours the dual plane technique and how it allows him to achieve the most natural looking breast augmentation results here: ‪https://hunterplasticsurgery.com.au/news/what-is-a-dual-plane-technique (link in bio)⁣

Chest reduced from an asymmetric G/H cup to a more proportionate C cup. See the comments section below to view this patient’s results from all angles ⬇️

This patient came to see Dr Moncrieff to discuss the options available to address her disproportionately large, heavy chest, with her left breast being about one cup size bigger than her right.

Dr Moncrieff performed a breast reduction, uplift and ni**le reshaping using an internal bra technique to reduce this patient’s chest by 5-6 cup sizes. He removed 736g from her left breast, and 519g from her right – a total volume reduction of almost 1.3kg!

Hybrid breast augmentation with fat grafting by Dr Moncrieff. See the comments section below to view her results from all angles ⬇️

Dr Moncrieff performed a breast augmentation (or augmentation mammoplasty in medical terms) using a 295cc anatomical implant on her left and a 330cc anatomical implant on her right, a custom dual plane technique and fat grafting from inner thighs to cleavage lines to achieve this result.

WHAT IS FAT GRAFTING
Fat grafting refers to the removal of fat cells from one area and reinjection to another using liposuction techniques. While Dr Moncrieff doesn’t perform fat transfer to the breasts as a stand-alone procedure, he will often combine this technique with breast augmentation to help correct volume, shape or contour irregularities, provide coverage over the breast implants for a more natural appearance or create close-set cleavage lines. More information about fat grafting can be found here: https://hunterplasticsurgery.com.au/news/can-I-use-fat-grafting-instead-of-breast-implants

COST
The out-of-pocket cost for breast augmentation starts from $15,000 (total cost includes our Plastic Surgeon, hospital, anaesthetist, garment, post-operative visits and LED light therapy for recovery and scar minimisation).

Considering a breast lift and implants, but wondering why Dr Moncrieff recommends a two-stage approach?

A breast lift with implants can be a great way to achieve fuller, lifted bust in women who have had children or experienced weight loss (or both in many cases), but Dr Moncrieff almost always recommends this procedure over two operations, staged 9-12 months apart.

Why? When we look at what happens during a breast lift and implant procedure, the operations are trying to achieve almost opposite objectives. By performing these procedures over two stages, Dr Moncrieff finds the breast lift scars have optimal time to heal and fade before introducing an implant, giving the patient the best possible long-term result.

Abdominoplasty, implant removal, breast lift and implant replacement by Dr Moncrieff. See the comments section below for all stages of this patient’s surgical journey ⬇️

This patient underwent a staged approach to surgery to achieve this result. For her first operation, Dr Moncrieff performed a tummy tuck (also known as abdominoplasty) to remove excess skin and repair abdominal muscle separation post-pregnancy. He also removed this patient’s 9-year-old breast implants (originally performed elsewhere) and performed a breast lift to reshape the remaining breast tissue. Nine months later, he performed a second-stage breast augmentation using 375cc anatomical implants and fat grafting. The patient is pictured 7 months post her second-stage procedure.

3D VECTRA SIMULATION
To start exploring your options, you may like to book a $100 Vectra 3D surgery simulation with our Practice Manager. While the Vectra is unable to produce an image for implant revision or abdominoplasty surgery, many of our patients have still appreciated being able to discuss other elements of the surgical journey including hospital stay, possible Medicare and fund rebates, etc. For more information, visit our website.

Combined abdominoplasty, breast augmentation and fat grafting performed by Dr Moncrieff post-pregnancy. Watch until the end to view her results from all angles ▶️⁣
 ⁣
Dr Moncrieff performed a hybrid breast augmentation (or augmentation mammoplasty in medical terms) using a 245cc anatomical implant in her left breast, a 280cc anatomical implant in her right and fat grafting techniques to help address asymmetry and create close-set cleavage lines. He also performed an abdominoplasty to repair 5cm abdominal muscle separation post-pregnancy.⁣
 ⁣
WHY MUSCLE REPAIR?⁣
Dr Moncrieff finds that most women experience some degree of muscle separation after birth due to the expansion of the abdominal wall to accommodate for a growing baby. For some women, the muscles will come back together over time, but for others unfortunately they do not. Incorporating muscle repair into a tummy tuck procedure can alleviate many of the chronic symptoms that come with muscle separation, including incontinence, lower back and abdominal pain, postural issues, pelvic floor dysfunction and more.⁣
 ⁣
COST⁣
The out-of-pocket cost for this combined procedure starts at $36,000 (total costs for an insured patient including our Plastic Surgeon, hospital, anaesthetist, leading brand implants, garment, post-operative visits, LED Healite treatment for scars, etc).⁣

For many women, pregnancy, childbirth, or significant weight loss can leave behind normal but unwanted changes in the body that diet and exercise simply can’t fix.

Two of the most common procedures our patients explore with Dr Moncrieff are abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) and liposuction. While both can contour the midsection, they are not equally effective for addressing all concerns.

So, how do you know which is right for you? We break down the key differences in our latest blog post: https://hunterplasticsurgery.com.au/news/tummy-tuck-versus-liposuction-what-right-me

Concerned about abdominal muscle separation post-pregnancy?⁣

Dr Moncrieff finds that most women experience some degree of muscle separation after birth due to the expansion of the abdominal wall to accommodate for a growing baby. And afterwards for many women, no matter how much pilates or crunches they do, the muscles just won’t come back together.⁣

Incorporating a muscle repair into a tummy tuck procedure can alleviate many of the chronic symptoms that come with muscle separation, including incontinence, lower back and abdominal pain, postural issues, pelvic floor dysfunction and more.⁣

Dr Moncrieff’s research helped to reinstate the Medicare item number for abdominoplasty post-pregnancy in 2022, meaning women suffering significant muscle separation are now able to have surgery more affordably.⁣
