Subclavius Nerve And Triggerpoint Referred Pain.
Subclavius nerve pain or, more commonly, irritation of the muscle itself, typically presents as localized pain just under the collarbone, often caused by overuse, poor posture, or thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS). It can cause sharp or aching pain radiating to the shoulder/arm.
Location: The subclavius muscle sits directly under the collarbone (clavicle) and above the first rib.
Symptoms: Sharp or aching pain directly under the collarbone, which can radiate to the shoulder, neck, or down the arm.
Causes: Repetitive strain (e.g., swimming, lifting), direct trauma, or posture-related issues that compress the space between the first rib and clavicle.
I had helped a client today with the Subclavius pain where she felt immediate relief from the soft tissue work I did for her. The pain was tender to the Triggerpoint and the pain travelled across to the shoulder and down the arm.
