🎉 Good News for Our Patients! 🎉

We’re excited to announce that our clinic is introducing a mixed billing model from 1 March 2026 - meaning new bulk-billing options for eligible patients.

As part of this change, we’re pleased to now offer bulk-billing for:

✅ Patients with a valid Pensioner Concession Card
✅ Children under 12 years of age

This is a positive step that allows us to:

✨ Continue delivering high-quality, patient-focused care
✨ Support sustainable GP services in our community
✨ Better support pensioners and vulnerable patients

By introducing mixed billing, we can balance accessibility with the time, care and attention we believe every patient deserves.

Last night our admin team completed Basic Life Support and Resuscitation (CPR) training, including the use of a defibrillator (AED). 👏

You might think our receptionists simply book your appointments, greet you with a smile, and finalise your visit — but they’re also keeping a close eye on everyone in our waiting room.

🌟 Welcome Dr Oscar Thach to Smith St Medical! 🌟

We’re delighted to welcome Dr Oscar Thach to the Smith St Medical team as he completes the final term of his GP training.

Oscar graduated from the University of New England in 2021 and completed his internship and residency at Gosford and Wyong Hospitals. He is passionate about providing patient-centred, compassionate care and enjoys building long-term relationships with his patients.

Outside the clinic, Oscar is kept on his toes by his two-year-old son and spends his downtime trying (with limited success) to convince his wife to watch movies she doesn’t enjoy.

We're excited to welcome Dr Jane Kelly to the Smith St team from next week.

Dr Jane Kelly graduated from the University of New England and has since gained extensive experience working in hospitals across the Hunter New England Health region. She is currently undertaking GP training and is committed to ongoing professional development.

Dr Jane has broad interests across all areas of general practice, with particular interests in preventative healthcare and Women’s and Children’s Health. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her dogs, practising Pilates, reading, and exploring the local food scene.
