What a privilege to have worked with Healing the Children at Hospital Nacional Dos de Mayo in Lima, Peru, treating many patients with cleft lip, cleft palate, and other congenital facial anomalies. An incredible week of operating, collaborating, and teaching with Peruvian colleagues as well. Some patients traveled for days from remote areas of the Amazon to come to Lima, as facial plastic surgical services are not readily available in some parts of the country. Some patients also presented with very rare congenital anomalies such as a Tessier 7 cleft.

Maintaining an active lifestyle is very important, but sometimes it comes with unintended consequences. This young man suffered a nasal fracture while playing sport, and a previous attempt to reduce it was unsuccessful. He wanted to look more like his pre-injury self, as well as breathe better through his nose. Dr Winters performed a septorhinoplasty, and we’re all thrilled with the functional and aesthetic results. The patient is shown one year postoperatively.

On his recent travels, A/Prof Ryan Winters was honoured to teach facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre in Tanzania.
The workshop brought together a gifted cohort of trainee surgeons, highlighting the importance of global collaboration and education in advancing patient care.

Dr Niall Jefferson and A/Prof Ryan Winters are currently booked out through May 2026.

To maintain clinic flexibility and ensure patients aren’t waiting too long for appointments, our surgeons only open their schedules six months in advance.

If you need to see an ENT specialist sooner, you may wish to contact other ENT clinics in Newcastle, the Central Coast, or Sydney, where wait times are often shorter.
