Miranda “Rinny” Carfrae is a legend pro-athlete who has won the Ironman World Championship 3 times. Here’s her take on sleep with a young baby.

The first few months with a little person can be tiring, but despite how tired I look in this photo I've actually been doing ok in the sleep department. I'm a big fan of co-sleeping - it's what we did with Izzy and now with Finn. I don't think I could survive the night time feeds if I had the baby in a different room.. It's worked pretty well for us but I know isn't for everyone. Anyone with me??!!

Happy Mother’s Day! To all the mums but especially the one’s celebrating for the first time. This beautiful song by Missy Higgins sums it up way better than I can.

Just a heads up that with the weather warming up this weekend, your bubba may be looking for more frequent feeds. It's not a sign that your supply has dropped. If your bubba is term, well and gaining weight appropriately - just follow their cues and look for opportunity to offer feeds in hot weather.

Having Dad's involved with their bubba's and breastfeeding right from the start is proven to increase a mum's odds of reaching her breastfeeding goals. Finding Dad-specific resources is a bit of a challenge. Groups like Becoming Dad are a great start. (Disclaimer - I haven't actually read this particular book). Any resources that you/your partner found helpful?

Where was I during the months of October and November of 2017? Hunkered down in my office, pounding away on the keyboard with my hands (and forehead) to bring you this book!

"We're Pregnant! The First-Time Dad's Pregnancy Handbook" is on pre-order status via Amazon and I'm hoping you'll order one!

This little dandy includes weekly milestones, practical suggestions for supporting your partner's changing needs, action-oriented goals AND the 'fourth trimester' all woven together with humor and personal anecdotes from FOUR pregnancies! It's a great gift for the new dad in your life!

Thanks for the continued support, high-fives all around!

Baby not gaining weight well? The first thing to do is just fit in one extra breastfeed each day. Over a week this extra milk adds up. If you are already feeding 10-12 times a day and weigh gain is still slow, that's where I can help. http://revie.com.au/contact/

Many women consider taking products to boost milk supply. This review of studies is recent - the findings aren't. There's not enough research into so many of the options we choose as breastfeeding mothers. If you're concerned about milk supply, the evidence points to breastfeeding management as your first option. That's where I can help.

If you're pumping it's important to have the right size fl**ge (part that sits on the breast). Great article from an IBCLC with diagrams to show how your pump fl**ge might look.

Getting a good pump fit is vital, especially when you pump often and the breast-pump part your ni**le is drawn into (the ni**le tunnel ) is composed of rigid plastic, as is true of most pumps. If it is made of soft silicone, which a few pumps are, it may mold more easily to different ni**le si

Thanks .dietitian for this graphic and the phrase “Your breasts are sisters, not twins”. 👍😊

It’s really common for one of our breasts to be bigger than the other. We are most likely to notice this in the first few weeks of breastfeeding, when many of us are over-producing milk.
There are lots of reasons for the difference in size, including:
One breast might make more milk than the other.
One breast might letdown quicker.
One breast might be easier for your baby to latch onto (different ni**le/breast size or shape).
You might find one breast easier to feed from (we all tend to be either right or left/handed).
Your baby might feel more comfortable on one side. (I see this with babies who have had a birth injury or torticullis.)
And of course, if your baby feels more comfortable on one breast they’ll feed better on that one, which increases its supply, and makes it even more “popular”! 😂
So what can we do about this?
We can sometimes make our breasts more even if we feed more often from the less popular side.
Our breasts often become less lop-sided once our supply settles down anyway.
If otherwise things are going well then there’s no need to do anything 🤷‍♀️
Hands up if you’re just embracing the uneven look? 🙋‍♀️
