CLINIC UPDATE

Unfortunately due to circumstances outside of our control we have had to close the doors of the clinic. It has been our pleasure being able to help so many people understand their own bodies and achieve things they didn't believe they would be able to!

For those that are interested Tim is still operating in the North Brisbane area offering Exercise Physiology services. The only thing he can't do any more is the DEXA Body Composition scans but he does still offer any of the other services!

ABOUT ME

I am a dual-qualified Exercise Physiologist & Massage Therapist with a passion for helping people just like you who are having trouble with pain that is affecting every day life. With over 10 years experience, I work with a wide range of people of all ages & backgrounds in clinical, gym and professional sports settings, helping people manage any injuries or niggles they may have. To achieve your desired results, I use a combination of massage therapy, rehab/prehab exercises, dry needling, shockwave therapy, stretching & mobilty, taping, and education on how to manage your own pain in the future.

** Health care rebates are available for all of my services. **

In my spare time you can find me in the gym working on my own pain rehab (I've had my fair share of injuries too!), spending time with my new fiance, or watching a bit of footy. I also like to play a bit of sport (hockey & golf), and practice what I preach by keeping myself fit and healthy year-round which makes a huge difference in my ability to keep playing at a moderately high level. I'm also an avid dog lover so please feel free to show me your own best mates!

What do you think happens to your WEIGHT if you lose 2kg of fat but gain 2kg of muscle? You stay exactly the same weight! Does this mean it's a bad thing? Definitely not! Gaining muscle and losing fat at the same time is an excellent result, but you wouldn't know that if you were just standing on the scales!

A DEXA Body Composition Scan is the GOLD standard world wide when it comes to body composition analysis. This will give us detailed information about how much muscle, fat, and bone you have! To add even more nutrition quality to your meal, try adding another protein source. This helps keep you fuller for longer and makes a more balanced meal.

Sweet potato often gets promoted as being a healthier option, but how does it compare to you regular old potato?

SWEET POTATO
- 378 kJ
- 2 g protein
- 0.15 g fat
- 21 g carbs
- 3.3 g fibre

WHITE POTATO
- 382 kcal
- 2 g protein
- 0.15 g fat
- 21 g carbs
- 2.1 g fibre

So as you can see not much difference! For micro-nutrients, sweet potato is a much better source of Vitamin A, regular potato contains more potassium and both of them are good sources of Vitamin B6, Vitamin C and magnesium.

So which do you choose?
We say it doesn't make that much of a difference; more relevant is how you choose to cook your potato. Avoid deep-fried potato chips and butter-laden mashes. Try baked or roasted with olive oil spray, or a simple mash with some skim milk.
