Feeling extra tired lately? It might not just be pregnancy catching up with you, your iron levels could be low too 🤰 😴
During pregnancy, your body needs double the iron to help make blood for both you and your baby. Low iron levels can leave you feeling dizzy, breathless, or completely wiped out (no matter how much you rest).
🩸 Tips to boost iron naturally:
• Pair iron-rich foods (like red meat, spinach, lentils & eggs) with vitamin C foods (like oranges or capsicum).
• Avoid tea or coffee right before or after meals — they can block iron absorption.
• Ask your midwife or GP about a blood test if you’re feeling run down — or if you’d like to work with me, I can order this privately too.
If you do need a boost, come see me naturopath consult. There's lots of iron supplements around but I do love this practitioner-only product called BioHeme, my clients have had great success with it, seeing their iron levels rise without the side effects that can come with many other iron supplements (sorry you can't get this retail off the shelf). 🌿
P.S. Even if you’re not pregnant or are breastfeeding, it’s still so important to keep your ferritin levels healthy, low stores can leave you feeling flat, foggy, or constantly tired.
