We are very proud to introduce New South Wales's first CyberKnife as part of this Australian-First Centre of Excellence with Icon Cancer Centre - Australia and Macquarie University Hospital. A major step forward in expanding access to world-leading precision radiotherapy closer to home.

Accuray Icon Group

In exciting news, we have partnered with Macquarie University Hospital (MUH) to advance precision radiotherapy in Australia.

As the new radiotherapy service provider, we are pleased to announce the centre will be the only facility in the country to offer all three leading precision-radiation technologies in one location: Gamma Knife, CyberKnife and a linear accelerator (linac).

These technologies are at the forefront of precision cancer care, providing highly targeted, less invasive treatment options - improving accuracy, minimising side effects, and reducing the burden of time and travel for patients and their families.

We’re proud to partner with MUH to deliver this next phase of precision radiotherapy, setting a new benchmark for integrated cancer care in Australia.

The service will commence in May 2026, ensuring continuity of care during the transition from the current service, with the new technologies available to patients by the end of the year.

This additional centre will see the number of Icon Cancer Centre services in New South Wales grow to seven, with existing cancer care centres in Wahroonga, Concord, Revesby, Norwest, Gosford and Maitland.

Last week, the 5D Clinics Melbourne team treated one of their final patients for the year, Malcolm. Pictured by his side is our Registered Nurse, Andy (left), and Radiation Therapist, Jack (right). Malcolm wanted to share his positive experience at the centre, saying our staff are “professional and caring.”

Why does motion management matter in radiation therapy treatment?

When you receive radiation therapy treatment, you are required to lie still to ensure the radiation beams effectively target tumours.

Unlike conventional systems, the CyberKnife® System adapts to normal human movement, such as breathing, changing position, coughing, or relaxing or tensing muscles.

This allows you to stay comfortable and relaxed during treatment, knowing that high-dose radiation is delivered precisely to the tumour site as you naturally move, minimising exposure to healthy tissue.

We pursue empathetic care, successful patient outcomes and ground-breaking technical precision with equal tenacity.
