Established in 2018.

With a combined 35 years of training clients, founders Sam, Kyle and Rhys created Functional AF so that so motivated individuals can achieve their health and fitness goals through our 3 Fundamentals being Lifestyle, Nutrition and Training. Everyone who joins the team will be delivered a professional level of service and become part of a strong and powerful community dedicated to having all achieve their goals. Lauren 🔥
Full-time mum. Full-time worker. Now full-time confident in the gym. Lauren wanted more than fat loss, she wanted to feel strong and capable. She’s down 9.8kg and 47cm and the biggest win is how she carries herself now. Simple structured sessions, food that still fits her life and regular check-ins. The gym is now part of her lifestyle and she’s chasing PBs with confidence.

Tineale 👏
FIFO life, long shifts, changing routines, still showing up. Tineale has dropped 15kg and 76cm without extremes. 3 weights sessions a week, a bit of cardio and calories around 1750, all adjusted around her FIFO roster. Not perfect weeks, just consistent ones and it’s paying off in strength, shape and confidence.

Dani ✨
A full-time job, a normal life and a plan that actually fits. Dani is down 6.8kg and 56cm, training 3 weights sessions a week plus one 45-minute cardio session. She’s in a 15% deficit (1772 cals) and nailing the basics. The changes aren’t just on the scales, her posture, shape and overall body comp are next level. No restriction mindset, just smart programming and consistency. AND her strength is through the roof!!

At Functional AF, it’s always been about more than just training 🖤🤍

2025 has been packed with wins, laughter, challenges, milestones and moments that remind us why we do what we do ➡️ building a community where people feel supported, connected and empowered to grow together 🤝🏻✨

From early mornings at some tough events to personal wins & shared achievements, FAF is proud to create a space where our clients don’t just improve their fitness - they build confidence, relationships and memories that last far beyond the gym 🏋️‍♀️🙌🏻

Announcing our 2025 Clients of the Year 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

As 2025 comes to a close, we want to shout out some standout legends from our Functional AF community. These clients have crushed their goals but more importantly they’ve shown up, stayed consistent and inspired everyone around them 💪

Each coach picked a Client of the Year and a Coach’s Award to spotlight someone who’s gone above and beyond.

🔥 Coach Meg’s Client of the Year: Rosie
Rosie used to hate the gym (and honestly still isn’t the biggest fan). Despite that she’s now training for her first Hyrox next year. She’s made fitness part of her lifestyle and stays disciplined knowing how great it makes her feel! Awesome work!

🙌 Coach Meg’s Coach’s Award: Louise
Mum of two. Works six days a week. Still trains consistently, sticks to her nutrition and shows up no matter what. Her commitment and growth this year have been next level

🔥 Coach Sam’s Client of the Year: Dani
Dani has become one of the strongest clients at Functional AF. She pushes herself to the absolute limit every session. The community watches her train and lifts harder because of it, an inspiration!

🙌 Coach Sam’s Coach’s Award: Tameka
Tameka joined this year with the goal of running a half marathon. She recently ran a 10km True Grit course with the FAF crew then backed it up with her half marathon the next day 🔥 Her mindset, grit and drive have been unreal.

🔥 Coach Rhys’s Client of the Year: Mitch
FIFO worker. Down huge numbers this year and completely transformed his physique. Every plan Rhys gave him Mitch followed. No excuses. He’s built fitness into his life and is stronger than ever!

🙌 Coach Rhys’s Coach’s Award: Dan
Dan’s been with us for years and is hands down the strongest male client at Functional AF. Built on consistency, strict nutrition and going all in every session. He never leaves anything in the tank… and it shows.
