Feel the warmth, hear the waves and enjoy the summer by the water🌊
Victoria’s hot summer days are perfect for a beach trip and accessibility makes it easier to enjoy the seaside.
The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing is seeking feedback on how individual disability advocacy can be improved - so it’s easier to access and use, and better supports the rights of people with disability.
They want to hear from:
✅ People with disability
✅ Families, carers and supporters
✅ Advocates and service providers
Accessible formats (including Easy Read and Auslan) are available.
✨ Planning a festive night out? Vision Australia’s Carols by Candlelight has shared helpful accessibility information to support people with disability, families, carers, and supporters.
There are several accessibility options, including:
✅ Auslan interpretation (available for the main performance on 24 December) — you can book seats near the interpreter in General Admission Lawn using the code AUSLAN (subject to availability).
✅ Audio description receivers for attendees who are blind or have low vision (book when purchasing tickets, or by phone).
✅ Audio description at home via Vision Australia Radio, with options to listen online.
✅ An Access Key (accessibility guide) with practical details like parking, staff assistance, toilets, and what to expect on the day.
They also note: if you’re sensitive to noise, a lawn seat or sitting near an aisle may be more comfortable.
