Alright ya legends, we’ve got a little ripper for ya!

There’s a few key words tucked away in the grid below that pretty much sums up what being an Aussie is all about.

Have a poke around, and give us a yell when you spot it. Screenshot it, circle it, or drop a comment when you reckon you’ve got it.

Clue: it’s the kind of thing that makes everyone feel welcome 💛

Too easy. No pressure. Just good Aussie FUN.

Did you know?

Globally, more than 1 billion people live with a disABILITY and that's around 15% of the world’s population.

In Australia alone, that number is 5.5 million people, meaning more than one in five Australians live with disABILITY. During the 70's there were community events run at the local hall.

Census data shows disABILITY is increasing across all age groups under 70, reminding us that disABILITY isn’t rare and it isn’t limited to one stage of life and we can embrace ALL people no matter how they walk, move, sound or whom they love.

Yet despite all this, discrimination remains common.

One in 10 people with disABILITY experience discrimination rising to one in five for those with more severe disABILTIES. We need your help to share our events to the community and help spread our message!

This happens everywhere.
In workplaces.
In hospitality venues.
And even in everyday interactions with strangers.

Awareness is the first step.
Inclusion is the responsibility we all share.

At Fun farm we believe that ABILITY lives in the word disABILITY and inclusion begins when we choose to see people and embrace them as they are!

Why a disco?

We’ve watched our teens and adults arrive unsure, standing back, taking it all in.

We’ve seen hands hover at their sides, feet tapping quietly to the beat.

Then something shifts.

Not because they’re told to dance.
Not because they’re expected to join in.

But because the music feels safe.
Because the room allows choice.

At a FunFarm disco, some dance freely, some move in their own way, some sit and simply enjoy the moment. There’s no pressure, no spotlight, no right way to participate.

Just sound, space and the freedom to be yourself.

That’s why we choose discos — not for the noise, but for the connection that happens when people are allowed to show up exactly as they are.

Tag a support worker and friend to join us below!

Monday reminder for parents and supportstars 🤍

If your loved one is neurodivergent, you already know that triggers can appear without warning.

A sound, a change in routine, a crowded space. Things others barely notice can feel overwhelming.

On days like that, it can be exhausting. You might wonder if you’re doing enough, or if you’re getting it right or if you can do more...

Here’s the truth: you got this!

Triggers aren’t bad behaviour. They’re your loved one telling you, “This is too much for me right now.” And when you slow down, offer choice, or simply stay close and that matters more than any perfect response.

At FunFarm, we see the power of:

-letting our FunStars join in when they’re ready
-having space to step back without judgement
-celebrating showing up, even quietly

This Monday, be gentle with yourself.

You don’t need to solve everything or be everything, just being there is more than enough.

We have your back!!

If you’ve ever typed into Google…

“social groups for teens with disABILITY Brisbane”
“inclusive events for young adults with disABILTIES”
“activities where my child will feel safe and accepted”

You’re not alone. And you’re not asking too much.

What most families are really searching for isn’t just an event.
They’re searching for understanding. Families are looking for space to bring own supports.

For patience.
For a place where their young person doesn’t have to explain themselves or fit into someone else’s idea of FUN.

That’s why FunFarm exists.

We create relaxed, inclusive social events for teens and young adults with disABILTIES — where choice comes first, pressure stays out, and everyone is welcome to join in their own way.

Some come to dance.
Some come to sit and watch.
Some come just to be around people who get it.

And all of that is okay here.

So if you’ve been searching, scrolling, wondering if there’s something better out there…
this might be it.

Stay true to you. We’ll take care of the FUN. 💛♿

What if the world stopped asking “Can you?” and started asking “How can we make space with you?”

This week a Brisbane forklift driver went viral for moving a car parked in a disabled space.

Some are saying “good on him”, others are questioning whether it was the right thing to do to move the car.

But here’s the bigger question…

What if that parking space was the difference between someone being able to leave the car or having to go home instead?

What if getting out of the car safely already takes all your energy?

What if you’ve planned all day just to make it to the shops, the doctor, or a disABILITY social event? 💭♿

For many people with disability, accessible parking isn’t about convenience, it’s about access, dignity and independence. It’s about being able to participate in everyday life like all of within the

So what if instead of asking “Was this dramatic?” we asked “Why do these spaces matter so much?”

What if we focused less on punishment and more on respect, awareness and community responsibility? ❤️

At FunFarm, we see every week how small barriers can become big obstacles and how powerful it is when communities choose inclusion over judgement and fear.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on this! Help us raise awareness for our local charity.

Do you think moments like this help raise awareness, or do we need better education and enforcement instead? 💬

Let’s talk about it.

Fun Farm Limited

Fun Farm Limited, a new exciting community organisation setup in December 2019, inspired by the vision of Redlands local, Karen Howe who spent her waking hours considering her sons future. Our mission is to create a space for the disAbility community to fulfill their hopes, dreams and opportunities. We're a public company with a constitutional 'not for profit' objective. “It’s quite disturbing once they hit their early adult years, what will happen now. When they are so little, this way of thinking seemed a long way off about what their aspirations might be either for themselves, or generally us for them, and what will that look like as he will need 100% support.” Dylan doesn’t have friends, or sleepovers which many youths his age would be doing now, or activities bike riding, skateboarding etc. Like many, Dylan struggles with crowds and has sensory issues so going to theme parks, or where large crowds in a small space is not even an option. Got me thinking and spending time listening to other parents, carers & guardians who are overwhelmed with the same concerns. After much deliberation and discussions with the right people and discussing the Vision we can now see the possibilities to bringing this vision to life.” We are talking about of a place with unlimited opportunities, possibilities that are only limited by the imagination, and a fun safe place with dedicated people who have an understanding, and have lived through the life of a person with a disAbility. We have found some amazing people to join us on this venture ‘Fun Farm’ which we registered in 2019 as Fun Farm Limited. We are now in the process of undertaking the task of applying for Not For Profit and charity status. In the meantime we need some ‘seed’ funding to cover our insurances and some costs to ensure the certainty of getting this off the ground. This is our first round funding and we want to ensure we get it right first time. Its the community that are our biggest fans and your donations will go along way to making someone's future bright. This will be a place where parents, care givers and guardians can have a vision (light at the end) for their loved ones, a knowing they have somewhere to go and discover so much about themselves and create new friendships and skills. A place where we close the gap with the broader communities to learn and understand that the only difference between us all, is our perspective on life. Job opportunities whilst we dive into the potential of each individual. We will be seeking more Directors and Volunteers however in the meantime we need some FUNDS. With the support of the community we 'CAN DO' this giving families hope for their loved ones future! There is no tax deduction at this stage until we become a charity which can take from up to 12months. We don’t have luxury of time we need your help now!! w: www.funfarm.org.au e: info@funfarm.org.au
