Our Minecraft Group is officially underway, led by our amazing OT, Taylor! 🎮✨

Today’s mission: teamwork in action. The kids paired up to plan and build their own farms, complete with animals, crops, and even a few mobs! 🐄🌾🧟‍♂️

Through play that's meaningful to them, they’re strengthening communication, problem-solving, turn-taking, and conflict resolution - all while having fun!

PEERS GROUP: Part 1 💬✨

PEERS (Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills) is an evidence-based social skills intervention designed for teenagers and young adults who want to learn how to make and keep friends.

Through structured lessons, real-world practice, and supportive guidance from our occupational therapists, they build the tools they need to strengthen conversations, develop meaningful friendships, and grow their confidence in social settings.

Part 4: Transitions & Goodbyes 🚗👋

School drop-offs can be one of the hardest parts of starting prep for little ones and parents. Our wonderful occupational therapist, Shannan, shares some valuable tips to help make this transition smoother for you and your child.

Keep it simple: stay calm, clearly explain what to expect, and create a consistent drop-off/pick-up routine.

⚽️All Abilities Soccer⚽️

Bayside United Football Club is running an all abilities football/soccer season between Saturday 2 May - Saturday 12 September for children over 7 years who have a physical or intellectual disability, ASD diagnosis or are neuro diverse!

Bayside United FC also accepts Queensland Government Play On Vouchers. Parents, carers or guardians can apply for a voucher valued up to $200 for their child, which can help cover part of the registration fees.

Introducing Col!👏👏👏

Col is a new grad OT and the newest addition to our Optimum Movement Family.

After completing her Bachelor of Science in 2022, Col commenced her Master of Occupational Therapy, knowing that OT was the perfect fit for her science background and her passion for supporting people in their daily activities. She loves seeing clients do the things they love the most while being surrounded by people who mean the most.

During her studies, Col worked as a support worker and OT assistant where she collaborated with individuals with complex disabilities and their multidisciplinary teams. A rewarding hydrotherapy experience sparked her passion for working in early intervention and with individuals with neurological conditions. To extend on this, she recently completed the screening version of the hand assessment for infants (s-HAI) through the Sweden’s university of Karolinska.

Col has a deep commitment for family-centred therapy, where helping parents to develop therapeutic skills and strategies that build their child’s capacity is a core focus.
