At Social Mums Club, we’re so grateful to be supported by amazing local businesses who truly care about the wellbeing of mums. One of these wonderful supporters, Evolve Wellbeing Psychology, recently shared a blog that really resonated with me — all about Thriving Through Motherhood.
It talks about how many mums can feel exhausted, overwhelmed, or just “flat,” and offers 5 simple steps to protect your mental health, find balance, and rediscover moments of joy:
1️⃣ Start with small acts of self-care – even five minutes of mindful breathing, stretching, or a quiet cuppa can make a difference.
2️⃣ Recognise the signs of ‘mum burnout’ – chronic fatigue, irritability, forgetfulness, or feeling emotionally flat? Don’t ignore it. Asking for support is strength, not failure.
3️⃣ Reframe ‘asking for help’ as healthy modelling – showing your kids that self-care is normal teaches them lifelong wellbeing skills.
4️⃣ Strengthen your support systems – motherhood isn’t meant to be solo. Connect with friends, groups, or a psychologist who can help carry the load.
5️⃣ Remember that thriving is possible – prioritising your mental health creates a ripple effect of wellbeing for your whole family.
