Practicing gratitude is something simple we can do daily that has been proven to increase our wellbeing. Gratitude leads to a reduction in stress, improved mood and better sleep. Even reflecting for 5 minutes a day on one thing we are grateful for can start to shift our focus and increase our joy in life and gives us good neurochemicals in our brains. This does not mean we need to ignore our challenges, as it is important to process, grieve and recover from the painful events that happen in our lives, however, having a mindset of gratitude can help us to move through these things and build a sense of hopefulness for the future.

Here's 5 Quick Tips to Emotion Coaching your Kids

1️⃣ Stay level and balanced.
2️⃣ Name the emotion you’re seeing in your child.
3️⃣ Ask them if they want some space or want you near them.
4️⃣ Give them the time they need to feel safe and pull things together.
5️⃣ Invite them to work with you on a solution.

This process keeps the relationship intact, helps the child feel like we believe in them (so they’re feeling capable and competent), and gives them a sense of control (so they don’t feel like they have to fight with you about things).

I liken trust to a windscreen. It can be smashed completely with a few big blows and then the only choice is to start over. Alternatively, a few chips here and there seem harmless, yet if not repaired in the early stages and more chips added, can soon become big cracks. In turn it becomes more and more difficult to see beyond. From this point, it doesn't take much for the whole windscreen to become unstable and even the smallest further damage can become irreparable as the whole thing shatters. Whereas when the small cracks are repaired and reinforced early, and forgiveness comes, it remains intact and allows for clear vision.
