Here I find myself again making adjustments to long run day in order to carry out regular life.
After parkrun I trotted up Hassans Walls for a glorious misty morning.
Really enjoyed the feeling this morning
Tomorrow will be short and sharp before our day of travel and adventure

Feels like Saturdays are now powered by Zambrero

We are excited to announce a one-year partnership with Australian-owned restaurant chain Zambrero, aimed at promoting healthy customised meals and supporting Zambrero’s Plate 4 Plate initiative to stop world hunger.

For every Zambrero burrito or bowl sold, a meal is donated to someone in need, with more than 100 million meals donated over the past 20 years.

As part of the partnership, parkrun participants will be eligible for a ‘buy one get one free’ offer on Saturdays, by showing evidence of your parkrun volunteer or result in-store using your email or the 5k app.

morning runs 💞
Turning my training dial up a few notches this week. Aiming for more balance and leaning into the difficult to help my confidence in being comfortable with being uncomfortable.
Feeling well placed for this part of my schedule

pretty proud of myself these past two weeks. Our life schedule hasn't always been great for the Sunday long run. But I've been able to get out and about as I start to build my km into something more practical for personal performance.
With a half marathon in my sights come April, it needs to be.
The sun rises fairly late out here in Cobar, so I ran around the lit streets until I could be sure to be seen and then took a tour of the sights.
As I move forward into my bulky weeks, I've gotten myself to a launch position. No excuses, just keeping on showing up.

This parkrun visit was a long way from home, but always worth it.
Newey reserve probably as dry as I've seen it
A good turn out for what seemed like a fairly humid morning
I always feel better about temp or the amount of flies when even the locals are talking about it.
Just ran a high tempo today instead of trying to bust myself. Happy enough with time versus effort.

awesome
Today I have a great very real world example of how heat training has positivity.
You see, out here in Portland the overnights can get quite cool, even during this baking patch of weather Australia is going through. One night recently even got to single digits (before heading to a day of 38!)
Anyway, I digress. I mostly exercise during the afternoon and that has meant a lot of plus 30 degrees running recently. Feeling okay and put together on them, but boy is it uncomfortable 🥵
So this morning when the sun isn't even up and it's about 13 outside I laced up and put together a smashing easy run with metrics far improved on how those afternoons go.
It's probably the run I needed right now. And it has served my confidence up a good healthy dose of happy.

parkrun
This past weekend I took a tour back out to Wellington for the
Event number 15, so I could see how they're getting along the path.
It was great to reconnect with the community and run the course.
As it's 200km from home, it ain't just a morning and day trip.
So when there I choose to stay at Ponto Falls reserve (free camping) and charge the car up for free at the Library (conveniently close to the parkrun and cafe they choose)
Event 275 for me

Hot
Someone once asked me how they might meet more women in their life, I said "have you tried painting wings on the wall and waiting for them to turn up?"
Joking of course, probably poorly as the temp outside in our part of the world is certified nuts right now.
Took a hydrating minded afternoon run today. Avoiding Garmins suggested activity by way of self preservation. Easy does it with lots of preparation.
If you're suffering a temperature problem today, I wish you all the best with your solutions

12 weeks
So after only 3 hours sleep Friday-->Saturday I was relatively ready for a good long sleep.
Mission accomplished and have begun my Sunday with a blissful long run in gentle rain. With plans to spend most of the rest of my day in the garden.
My true training plan for the April half marathon starts this week and whilst I have battled with inconsistencies for a good long while now I feel like I've gotten myself to a reasonable start point for build up.
As I review my last 4 weeks honestly, it is clear I can improve the way I apply myself in some very simple and small ways that will help.
I've got a few targets for this first four week block.
Mostly I think I have to change my thinking on my capacity for effort. So 75% of my time will be working with that as I train.
Happy Sunday pocket world.

storms
Was going to be an easy run today, but I was keeping a sharp eye on a gap in storms to get it done.
Literally half way around a loop, the first of the rumbles began. Turn back or go forward, the distance was the same. So an easy run turned tempo as I watched the storm window close.
Not so bad as I'm worried it wasn't worth the effort, but definitely not run as intended when I first stepped out.
I don't mind getting wet when I run, in fact I'd say I love rain running. But I draw the like when the spikey stuff ⚡⛈️🌩️gets involved.
