Top Shelf Advice To Stop Whining About The Wine Stains!

Although we may love the red wine, we do not love the purple teeth. Here are some clever ways to keep those pearly whites sparkling:

1. Brush Before, Not After: Avoid brushing your teeth immediately after drinking wine, as the high acidity makes your teeth sensitive to abrasion. Instead, brush your teeth an hour or so before. Wine clings to and stains the plaque on your teeth, so brushing before drinking may reduce the chances of wine staining your smile.

2. Stay Hydrated: Sip water between glasses of wine to rinse away the staining compounds and keep your mouth moist. An extra tip would be to sip sparkling water between glasses. Swishing water's carbonated bubbles will also help loosen and remove stains.

3. Cheese, Please: Cheese and wine go hand in hand! Cheese can help neutralize acids and create a protective barrier on your teeth.

4. Fiber: Foods with high fiber content, like broccoli, Brussels sprouts, and potatoes, can help your mouth produce more saliva, which can aid in scrubbing away stains as you chew.

5. No White Wine Before Red: Avoid starting with white wine if you plan to drink red wine later. White wine's acidity can erode your enamel and make red wine tannins stick to your teeth more easily.

6. Wine Drama Alert: The Lime Trick (Use Sparingly): In emergencies, you can use the lime trick to remove wine stains. Rub a lime slice gently against your teeth and lips to watch the stains disappear. However, be cautious, as the high acidity of citrus fruits like limes can wear down your tooth enamel over time. Reserve this method for SOS situations.

7. The After-Party: Oral Care: Brush and floss after enjoying your wine to prevent stains from setting in.
