Iโve had the privilege of working across many sectors of CHSS - from starting as a student and support worker, to senior support, internal quality improvement, audit and compliance, WHS committee member, and now as a Coordinator overseeing SIL (Supported Independent Living) accommodation.
My day-to-day work involves supporting teams of staff to provide the most tailored support to clients living in SIL accommodation - helping them live lives that promote independence, self-achievement, and capacity building while achieving their goals and embracing inclusivity and individuality.

The most meaningful recent moment was watching three participants move into a new SIL and gradually transform that space from three strangers living together into a home filled with laughter, banter (and the occasional disagreement! ๐ ) but above all, joy, camaraderie, and companionship. What was once an empty space is now a home for three lovely lads from the local community. ๐ ๐

๐งช๐ Slime Time at Our Community Supports Day Programme! ๐๐งช
Todayโs activity got a little gooey โ we made our very own slime! Everyone had a chance to mix, stir, and get creative with colors and textures. While a few of our clients decided the slimy feeling wasnโt quite their favorite ๐ , others loved squishing and stretching their creations.
It was such a fun hands-on activity that encouraged teamwork, sensory exploration, and lots of laughter. We love seeing everyone try new things and enjoy time together โ even when it gets a little messy! ๐ซ

Iโm the Manager of Service Delivery at CHSS, overseeing our team of Coordinators who support SIL House and Community Support staff. I also manage the rostering team, quality assurance officers, and support SIL intake to ensure participants receive consistent, person-centred support.
My days are a mix of planning, problem-solving, and collaborating with the team to keep everything running smoothly.

Overseeing the onboarding of three participants into a shared supported independent living arrangement was incredibly rewarding - seeing them settle into new routines and hearing how theyโve been interacting together reminded me why we do what we do ๐
This yearโs theme - โ๐๐ค๐ช ๐๐ง๐, ๐ ๐ฃ๐ค๐ฌ, ๐ค๐ง ๐ฌ๐๐ก๐ก ๐๐ ๐ค๐ฃ๐โ - reminds us that caring touches all of us.
At CHSS, we see firsthand the dedication, compassion, and resilience carers bring to every moment. Whether you're a family member, friend, or support worker, your care makes a world of difference.
๐ซถ Thank you for your compassion.

As CEO at CHSS, my days are rarely the same, but I always begin with a clear focus on why we do this work. I'm driven by a commitment to continuously improve how our organisation supports the teams who, in turn, support our incredible participants.
I work closely with our savvy CHSS Board and our Strategic Leadership team - Jenna, Rachel, Vishal, and Emma - to explore opportunities, respond to emerging needs, and strengthen our impact. Iโm constantly scanning the community landscape for shifts in policy, especially from the NDIS, and actively engaging with other sector leaders to share insights and advocate for meaningful change.

There are so many. Walking past our groups heading into the mall - seeing connection, purpose, and joy in motion. Hearing great ideas and small but meaningful improvements from staff across CHSS. Those โslight edgeโ moments show how deeply our team cares.
I love seeing our SIL participants out and about, living rich and connected lives. Driving past homes and seeing people enjoying the weather and each otherโs company - thatโs what floats my boat. And of course, witnessing our strategic plan come to life!
This , CHSS invites individuals, families, and support networks to reflect on what makes each person unique - their strengths, interests, goals, and values.
Swipe through for a few thoughtful questions designed to spark meaningful conversations and self-discovery. Whether you're exploring future possibilities, planning for employment, or simply reflecting on what matters most - these prompts are a great place to start.
Inspired by a resource from Down Syndrome Australia, these questions are part of a broader activity that supports people with disability to explore their own path toward independence, purpose, and connection.
Last week we welcomed more than 30 people to our ๐ ๐ซ๐ข๐๐๐ฒ ๐๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ ๐๐จ๐๐ข๐๐ฅ!
It was a fantastic night with a mix of CHSS clients, staff and community members all coming together for an evening of connection, laughter and yes plenty of good food too๐
These nights are all about inclusion, fun and friendship, and we absolutely love being part of them.
Everyoneโs welcome, so if youโd like to join in, just reach out for the details ๐
We canโt wait to see you at the next one!
